There are underwater invaders in our local streams and rivers and we want you to help us find them! Our culprit is the Rusty Crayfish, a tiny aquatic creature that is an invasive species in Kane County. Help naturalists round up some Rusty Crayfish in an effort to reduce their numbers. Families are encouraged to join us in the water with dip nets to collect, identify and remove some Rusties. Meet on the west side of the Fox River at the Historic

Piano Factory Pedestrian Bridge, off Indiana Street.

Recommended by:

Emily Shanahan, Nature Programs Supervisor

Why I chose this program:

This FREE Drop-In event is a great way for families to cool off and explore the Fox River while helping to reduce the number of Rusty Crayfish, an invasive species in Kane County. We even have prizes for the participant who collects the most, the largest, and the smallest of these wanted invaders!
