Novel Noshes: Ask the Author
Authors Share Book-Inspired Fare

Thanks to authors Jo Piazza and Barbara Davis who recently shared a book club menu for our readers.

The Sicilian Inheritance is Jo Piazza's multigenerational mystery about a woman reeling from personal failures who uncovers a shocking family secret in Sicily plunging her into a dangerous adventure to unearth the truth and confront the same sinister forces.

From Jo Piazza: "When I set out to write The Sicilian Inheritance, I wanted to write the most delicious book I had ever read. I taste-tested and cooked each dish I wrote about in the book several times. I almost want to put a warning label on the book that people should read it with food because they’re going to be hungry! These appear in the novel."

  • Sicilian Negroni
  • Crostini drizzled with olive oil and lemon juice, with whipped ricotta and pistachios
  • Pasta Alla Norma
  • Mini Arancini al Ragu
  • Cannoli

The Last of the Moon Girls is Barbara Davis’s novel about a young woman who returns to her family's ancestral farm after her grandmother's death, confronting her healing legacy and the dark mystery of unsolved murders that haunt the lavender fields.

“For The Last of the Moon Girls book club meeting menu, most of the ideas feature fresh herbs:"

  • Lavender Lemonade (pretty and delicious)—for a cocktail, add gin
  • Caprese skewers
  • Rosemary focaccia with herbed dipping oil
  • Portobello and Rosemary Bruschetta
  • Watermelon/Cucumber Salad with Mint and Feta
  • Honey Pecan Blondies
