The Heart and Soul Club of the Waupaca Arts Hub

Special Time: 4:00 pm

Live from the 96.3 FM studio and Live on Facebook!

The Waupaca Arts Hub is bursting with music students! This fall we will have nearly 120 kids of all ages (including adults!) taking music lessons form 9 different teachers. This summer, many of the kids worked on perfecting the classic song that most piano students know called "Heart and Soul." As a fun summertime activity, we formed the Heart and Soul Club, and kids worked hard perfecting the song and variations on piano, voice and guitar! Many of the Heart and Soul Club kids will be in the studio to play the song, talk about their music practice and basically show us how much fun it is to play Music!Join us in the studio, although it will be crowded (with proud parents) for this tribute to Hoagie Charmichael and his everlasting Heart and Soul Chord Progression! (click that link to see a chart with the hundreds of songs based on this song's chord progression!)

You can join us in the studio (send us a FB message) or experience the show on FB Live on our FB page!

MIXED MEDIUM ACCORDIAN BOOK

Learn Calligraphy and create a piece of art called an “Accordion” book! You will have the opportunity to learn and experiment with acrylic paints, watercolors, colored pencils, and collage while learning the art of calligraphy. You will learn how to make these very simple, straight forward hardcover books with different kinds of paper, glue, and closures of your choice to best suit your style.

SEWING

Students will learn these sewing techniques measuring, cutting, sewing, and pressing to create a festive table runner. After the students finish the table runner they can choose another project such as a pillow, a bag, or a small purse to try out their newly learned skills.

IMPROV FOR ADULTS

This series of classes will teach the principles of improv to adults (ages 18-118) who aren't necessarily interested in performing. That said, a public performance is a possibility for those who want to conclude these classes with a show or work. At the least, participants will have fun while learning to think on their feet and roll with the surprises that daily life hands us.

CREATE AND DISCOVER

Come to the Hub to Create & Discover! This semester we’ll be creating large-scale art that helps us discover identity! Join us to get inspired by folks like Frida Kahlo and Vincent van Gogh as we explore self-portraiture, symbolism, and styles of mark-making.

DRINK AND DRAW

The Grand National Lounge will be opening for an exclusive event with the Arts Hub. This will be a fun night out with friends as you learn a drawing technique and have a delicious cocktail. Anyone from beginner to advanced will enjoy creating in this fun setting. The fee covers materials and instruction. Beverages are available for purchase.

CHICKEN DUMPLING SOUP

Cook with Chef Jen!
