Wednesday Church Night - Our Monthly Fellowshiip Meal - Needs Leadership

Since Jesus' own human ministry, those who followed Christ would gather for shared meals and fellowship. St. Luke has continued this tradition through our monthly Wednesday Church Nights.

For years, we have gathered from 6-7:30pm on a Wednesday evenings – usually the first Wednesday evening of the month – to eat together, to enjoy fellowship, and to have some sort of educational programming. Much thanks to our chefs, our serving and cleanup teams, and especially to the people who coordinated these events. For years Leanne van Horn coordinated our chefs and meal teams, and after the lockdown, Jane Chan resurrected these meals, serving as coordinator. Much thanks to these leaders!

If we want these gatherings to continue, we now need new leaders. The coordinator roles include:

  • recruit chefs (one large meal/month)
  • check in with set-up and cleanup crews before Weds Church Night each month
  • hire a student to be our dishwasher
  • communicate/coordinate with pastors & staff about who is cooking each month, any needs you see.
  • be present for Weds Church Night through the end of cleanup

These roles can be shared by a team – they needn't be the responsibility of one person! Please let the pastors or the St. Luke office know if you would be open to helping lead this important gathering.

Our next Wednesday Church Night will be Wednesday, Sept. 11, from 6:00-7:30pm: join us to experience vicariously the places of the ministries of the Apostle Paul & John of Patmos! Pr. Beth and the Rev. Melinda Wagner (retired pastor from First Imanuel Lutheran Church) share about their pilgrimage in Greece and Turkey!
