Long Lake Studio
Many years ago we designed a two-car garage with studio above in Harrison. As soon as construction started late last year it was discovered that a portion of the building was over property setbacks. A major redesign required a back-to-back garage and studio above, the Long Lake Studio. DMA was able to re-use all major components like windows and structural elements, and with the help of a creative contractor, Borsetti Construction, a unique and very functional garage studio was constructed.
Headline
The details of Headline are starting to come together and it's very exciting to see. Clean lines throughout, from recessed linear LED lighting to an elegant and simple custom front door, the house has a consistent design theme. A stone wall and iconic wood beam greets visitors with a sense of security and then opens up to large and wonderful views of the water as one enters the house. Construction by Thorner Building Corp.
Cold Spring Farm
Exterior and interior insulation has been installed on the new wing of the Cold Spring Farm, and the interior of the historic house has been renovated and clean enough for the clients to move in for the summer. The blower door test for the new wing came in at 0.82 ACH 50! I bet it's better then the 1774 house. Construction by Chartier Building and Remodeling.
Music Man
Mark your calendars...again. The Studio Theatre of Bath and Chocolate Church originally began producing Music Man last year, but had to postpone due to the pandemic. It is now scheduled for Sept 8 through the 18th at the Chocolate Church in Bath. A perfect way to end the summer, Music Man tickets can be purchased here.
Views from the Jobsite
Not exactly a jobsite, but when we get on the water around the midcoast we sometimes get to see our design projects from a different angle. On a recent kayak trip from Popham Beach to Bath (via the Back River and the Sasanoa), David snapped a photo of a boat house in Bath designed by DMA years ago. And for the record, the kayaks were clocked at 10 mph going through Upper Hell Gate.
New York New York
David and Scott spent a long weekend in NYC recently with a couple of friends. Highlights certainly include exploring the city again, the Highline, Central Park, and passing by old projects like Congregation Or Zarua, a 7-story synagogue that David worked on at RG Roesch Architecture and Landscape Architecture. This highly detailed and custom building is 25' wide, 100' deep, and 100' tall on 82nd Street. The custom-designed stainless steel curtain wall you see in the photo represents the 220 seat sanctuary in the middle of the building. Fun fact, NYC code allows 2 inch setback off lot lines. This was the last project David worked on before we moved home to Maine in 2001. Construction by Calleo Construction.
