August Thirst Aid collection event with St. Joseph the Worker and Keys to Change a time to reflect on the power of collaboration.
Did you know? Thirst Aid is celebrating its 15th year as a heat relief drive here in Phoenix!
All thanks to our partners at St. Joseph the Worker (SJW), who founded the drive to support their job-seeking clients.
"Thirst Aid began in 2009 as a collaboration between SJW and Sundt, serving as a beacon of hope for individuals experiencing homelessness in downtown Phoenix," says Carrie Masters, CEO of SJW.
Masters continues, "Initially focused on providing essential water supplies during the scorching summer months to those seeking employment at SJW, this initiative has significantly evolved and now supports dozens of nonprofits, thanks to hundreds of water donors."
At Keys to Change, we're proud to honor those roots while growing new branches, and forming a wider canopy of care. This year, we've seen an explosion of crowdfunding drives (create your own here) where anyone can create a drive, and anyone can donate.
Funds support the bulk purchase of water and emergency heat relief supplies by Keys to Change. With the support of the Keys to Change Operations Team, all 15 organizations on Key Campus distribute Thirst Aid water to our 1,200 daily clients - wherever they are on Campus.
We're proud to work alongside such passionate and compassionate counterparts at SJW. Our unique collaboration allows us to learn from each other and grow together. Carrie Masters said it beautifully: "It's heartwarming to see the community come together, offering support not only during the summer months but also helping individuals get on the path to a brighter future."
