Spirit Wear Store Is Open

Principal's Points
Good Afternoon St. Stephen Families,

It's been a very exciting first week. I love seeing all the smiling faces each day as students are excited to see their teachers and their friends. Thank you all for being patient with carline. Our first morning was a challenge, but after that, it went smoothly. Please remember that your child may exit the car anywhere along the sidewalk. They do not need to wait for someone to open the door if they can open it themselves. In another week or so we will have Safety Patrol students helping and that will make it easier. I also ask that you have patience when leaving the school on Boyette Road. If you are making a left-hand turn and someone is already in the middle of the road waiting to turn, please do not pull alongside them. It is difficult to see oncoming traffic when a car is next to you.

Please remember, if you wish to have your child opt-out of the mandated mask requirement, you must complete the google form sent on Tuesday. I am happy to see that most are wearing masks during this time of increased cases in our county. We continue to take measures to keep your children safe by sanitizing, quarantining anyone exposed to Covid, and keeping classes separate. We also installed a filtration system in our air conditioners last year which helps to purify the air. Once our positivity rate is below 10%, we will be able to bring back some of our regular events in the school.

Peace and Blessings,

Linda Umoh
Virtual Event

Due to the high rate of positive cases in Hillsborough County right now, we have decided to make Back to School Night a virtual event like last year. Teachers will record presentations about what they will be doing in classes this year. We will then send a link to families to view the recordings at your convenience. Thank you for understanding.

Thanks to all Parents, PTCO Executive Board, Dylan, and Johnnie from Seventh Grade, Roberto Medina, Carmen Rivera, and John Barkley for their time and help to make both Sunday and Monday exciting and fun for all. The heat on Sunday did not discourage our Mustangs from having fun on the slide, playing soccer, and ping pong. The breakfast for the teachers and staff on Monday morning was amazing. A big hug and lots of applause to Vylam and Sugary Labs for the delicious and beautifully displayed treats that made the breakfast so very special. SPECIAL, like all our SSCS teachers!

If you would like to share any comments about your students' first week of the new school year, please send the comments to The comments may be posted in the Sunday Parish Bulletin.

The play area was in need of new soccer goal frames with new nets. One call to Coach Riker and like magic, SSCS had what they needed. Like all our SSCS parents, the Riker family is generous and always ready to help. The Riker boys and Chrissy loaded the goals into their truck and delivered them to the school on Saturday. Just in time for the Sunday Mustang Festivities. The students are enjoying the new equipment every day at recess time. Special thanks to the Riker Family.

Update on school sports from the Administrators
As coaches and administrators, we recognize the impact and positive influence that sports and competition have on children. We also value the health and safety of our student-athletes, coaches, parents, and officials, as well as the people to whom they go home. At this time, the Hillsborough Catholic Youth Sports League (HCYSL) has decided to put interscholastic athletics on pause until after Labor Day. The HCYSL will reevaluate the conditions in September. We intend to begin our interscholastic programs as soon as the data from our community allows.

If you have any questions about the sports league please contact Coach Green at

Public Library Haal Pass
The Haal Pass allows our students to access public library resources with just their student ID number and Pin. Students will use their student ID number (from FACTS) and their password of 4321 to log into the site. This allows them to check out physical copies of books as well as digital books, audiobooks, and any other materials available from the public library. Students can also use this account to check out ebooks on Overdrive or Libby, the digital reader programs used by the public library.
SSCS Library Access
Students can now check out books from our school library! Students can sign into our library catalog using Destiny Discover and put books on hold. Books will be delivered to their classrooms after being checked out. Flexible learning students can have their books picked up at the front office.
