This month's meeting will be held on Thursday, July 11, 2024, at 6:00pm. Please note that this meeting will be held on the SECOND Thursday of the month. We normally meet on the first Thursday, but we did not want to conflict with July 4 celebrations.

Meeting Schedule

We will have general socializing starting at 6:00pm, with pizza and soft drinks available for $5.00 per person. Our speaker will come next at 6:30, followed by club business. We will end the meeting by 8:00pm.

Our Guest Speaker

We are delighted to welcome Jessica Morse, U.S. Wildland Fire Mitigation and Management Commission. Candidate for the U.S. House of Representatives, representing California's 3rd Congressional District.

A Message from Our President

Imagine This

By Terry Rodriguez

Imagine this. I thought this was a good title to invite us all to Imagine This as the outcome of election season 2024: our candidates get elected and take office! Electing our candidates takes work, effort, and free time. My past AADC President’s messages emphasized the importance of volunteerism. Voter outreach operations have the goal of electing the candidates who will bring the actual voices of United States citizens into the arena where laws are created. But imagine this: what if we don’t step up to protect our Democracy? The predominant clarion call of election season 2024 is “Democracy is on the Ballot.” What does the election mean to our friends on the other side of the aisle? One might reply, “Government Power is on the Ballot.”

Church and State and Louisiana

By Rosalie Wohlfromm

After reading about Louisiana mandating that the Ten Commandments be posted on the walls in each classroom in the state, I had two thoughts.

First, according to the rankings of education by states, Louisiana comes in at #49 in higher education and #40 in K-12. Does their legislature think that posting the commandments will improve these numbers? Wouldn’t it be more beneficial to save the money and put it towards school supplies, paying teachers more, etc. My feeling is that children know the Ten Commandments by the time they go to school, and most try to adhere to them.
