Judge Douglas Ginsburg is an American jurist and academic who serves as a judge on the United States Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit.


Judge Ginsburg is passionate about helping all current and aspiring Americans to understand the history and structure of the United States government.


That’s why he partnered with izzit.org to develop the Civics Fundamentals course (civicsfundamentals.org) to be a free, engaging, standards-aligned course to help all learners develop the foundational civics knowledge they need to be well-informed citizens.


WEDNESDAY, SEPTEMBER 13, 2023 — THE INFLUENCE OF THE U.S. DECLARATION OF INDEPENDENCE AT HOME AND ABROAD

A conversation with Judge Ginsburg delving into the powerful impact of America’s Declaration of Independence. Abroad it served as an example to more than 100 nations seeking their independence. Within the United States, it played a pivotal role in shaping the abolitionist movement, the women’s suffrage movement, and the endeavors of prominent civil rights leaders like Frederick Douglass and Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. 

  • 5:30 - 6:30 PM: Cocktail hour with hors d'oeuvres and Remnant Trust book exhibit 
  • 6:30—7:30 PM: Program 


THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 14, 2023 — UNDERSTANDING THE U.S. CONSTITUTION IN CONTEXT

  • 9:00 AM - 10:00 AM: Judge Ginsburg and Dr. Dan Miller engage in a timely conversation about the U.S. Constitution, exploring the document that governs those who govern us, delving into past, present and future struggles for liberty and dignity. 
  • 10:00 AM - 10:15 AM: Break
  • 10:15 AM - Noon: The Tools You Need: Knowing The Declaration and Constitution
  • Gen Z, Civics, and the Founding Documents: Hot Tips and Cold Water.
