NEW COLLECTIONS

We have added hundreds of books and reorganized our Architecture and American History sections.

We had the good fortune to acquire a large collection of books from Portman Architects' Atlanta office. Most of these books can be found in our newly expanded Architecture and Interior Design sections. Many more can be found downstairs in our Construction/Engineering section. Stay tuned as we continue to process this unique collection.

We have updated the U.S. Presidents and the Civil War sections with many new titles.

BANNED BOOK UPDATE

The number of books banned and challenged in the U.S. spiked 65% in 2023 over the previous year, reaching the highest level ever documented by The American Library Association.

The association reports that 4,240 individual book titles were targeted for removal from schools and public libraries - a sharp increase from the previous high of 2,571 in 2022.

The 2023 data “represents only a snapshot of book censorship,” partly because many attempts to challenge books are not formally flagged or covered by the news media.

Lawmakers in at least 13 states this year alone have introduced legislation that could disrupt libraries’ services and censor their materials.

We have restocked the Banned Book section at the front of the store.

We are dedicated to keeping frequently banned and challenged

books on our shelves.

INCOMING COLLECTION

We are currently refreshing our Theology and Religion sections

to make way for a new collection. Stay tuned!

philosophy books, please let us know.

QUOTABLES

One glance at a book and you hear the voice of another person, perhaps someone dead for 1,000 years. To read is to voyage through time.

-Carl Sagan

The reading of all good books is like a conversation with the finest minds of past centuries.

-Rene Descartes

When I look back, I am so impressed again with the life-giving power of literature. If I were a young person today, trying to gain a sense of myself in the world, I would do that again by reading, just as I did when I was young.

-Maya Angelou

A room without books is like a body without a soul.

-Cicero

Think before you speak. Read before you think.

-Fran Lebowitz
