At The CROSS!!! 4/28/24
Gal 6:14But God forbid that I should glory, save in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom the world is crucified unto me, and I unto the world.

GOOD MORNING!!! Today is April 28,2024 and I must wish my ELDEST son, BUBBA, (EVERY good southern father has at least ONE son named BUBBA” a very happy 60th birthday today!!! (Let's see if he REALLY does read his father's sermons???)
AND, I woke up this morning( PRAISE THE LORD FOR AWAKENING AGAIN” with “MY MIND STAYED ON JESUS!!!!!!!!!!!”

For any who may have wondered where I have been these past few days, (no sermons???), I have been overwhelmed “with the cares of THIS life!!”
My dear wife-who has not swallowed ANY solid food for over ten years had her esophagus STRECHED this last week and hopefully/PRAYERFULLY she will be able to FINALLY eat a hamburger or THANKSGIVING meal!!!!
She has lived-WITHOUT COMPLAINT-all these years surviving on Ensures and chicken broth! WHAT A MIGHTY GOD WE SERVE!!!

At the cross, at the cross
Where I first saw the light,
And the burden of my heart rolled away,
It was there by faith I received my sight,
And now I am happy all the day!
The CROSS is the most enduring. the most recognized, the most famous symbol in all human history!! Make no mistake-EVERYBODY in this world well knows WHO and WHAT IT/JESUS stands for!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
1 Peter 2:7 (KJV)
7 Unto you therefore which believe he is precious: but unto them which be disobedient, the stone which the builders disallowed, the same is made the head of the corner,
To WE Believers the CROSS is SACRED as it was there where our Savior bled and died for US!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
It was THERE, at the foot of that same CROSS. where our sins were eternally forgiven and NEW LIFE received!!!!
Matthew 16:24-25 (KJV)
24 Then said Jesus unto his disciples, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me.
25 For whosoever will save his life shall lose it: and whosoever will lose his life for my sake shall find it.
It is HERE-AT THE CROSS-where ALL begins.
There is no glory in the Cross-no glory to any man or woman.
The Cross is a despicable and humbling place-the place where ALL lose “their” earthly/human life.
MANY years ago-AFTER God spoke to me and CALLED me into full time ministry-I enrolled in a Bible college.
I met with the president of this same college as he sternly warned me:
“Son, if possible-if you can-please get out of my office immediately and do not come back here!!!”
I WAS SHOCKED!!! Why, sir, I am here to “serve the Lord!!!???” I exclaimed!!!!
He went on and explained:
“First, the ministry will too soon kill you!!! It will make an OLD MAN out of you too quickly.
And secondly, IF YOU CAN get out of here and DENY the Calling, then God has NOT called you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!”
Beloved, even Jesus hated/dreaded/feared “THE CROSS.”
Matthew 26:39 (KJV)
39 And he went a little further, and fell on his face, and prayed, saying, O my Father, if it be possible, let this cup pass from me: nevertheless not as I will, but as thou wilt.
