Patient Safety Tip
Environment of Care
| |
|
What: Surveyors are always looking around and observing the environment where we work. Common and highly visible issues that lead to citations are stained ceiling tiles, dusty vents, dead insects in light fixtures, etc.
Why: Issues in our work and patient care environment can cause infections or patient/employee injuries.
Call to Action: Look around! We get immune to the environment we work in day after day. If you notice something that needs repair, replacement or cleaning, submit a facility work order.

Deb Loken Honored for Good Catch | |
|
Congratulations to Debra Loken, Surgery Manager, Aspirus Plover Hospital.
Deb caught that our Aspirus Plover Hospital campus staff and leaders were unaware that our contracted elevator service company was doing elevator testing.
A patient was nearly taken into the elevator when the elevator cage dropped down in front of them. This would have caught the patient in the elevator unable to get out. Deb worked with our facilities team and the elevator service company to ensure our Aspirus Plover Hospital campus receives communication on testing dates/times to avoid this happening again.
The Good Catch Award is based upon a commitment to High-Reliability Principles for Safety to bring awareness to situations when an employee's or physician's actions prevented harm to those we care for.

On March 3, the team moved to its new location from the Plover Road Clinic.
