Ask the Embryologist: When Does Life Begin?
LARTL Releases Legislative Pro-Life Scorecard
While we had to cut our Pulse Leadership Institute short a bit due to Hurricane Barry, our students still had an amazing week! Read more . We pray you were safe in the storm.

One of the questions our students learned about last week is an age-old one: "When does life begin?" Pro-abortion people at the New Orleans City Council meeting a few weeks ago claimed it was "ridiculous" to say that life begins at conception, but we know the biological truth: Every human life began at the moment of conception! Watch our interns Taylor and TJ check with embryology textbooks to get the facts!
On another note, we just released our 2016-2019 Pro-Life Legislative Scorecards! As incumbent legislators (or those running for the other chamber) are knocking at your doors ahead of the Oct. 12 elections, know how they voted on life issues . We are also compiling questionnaire responses from new candidates. If you know of candidates running, ask them to complete our questionnaire and send our way !

For a Pro-Life Louisiana,
Benjamin Clapper
2016-2019 Scorecards Released:
Did Your Legislators Vote 100% Pro-Life?
Louisiana Right to Life scores state legislators on a variety of pro-life votes each session, and 2019 was no different.
House members were scored on eight votes, and 65% of members received a 100% pro-life rating. Senators were scored on seven votes, with 69% receiving a 100% pro-life rating. It's also the end of this four-year legislative term, and the 2016-19 scorecards have now been released ahead of the 2019 elections.

Students Discover Life, Train in Pro-Life Activism at PULSE Leadership Institute
Despite the lurking of Barry in the Gulf of Mexico last week, the weather and the enthusiasm at the Timothy Retreat Center in Baker couldn't have been much better as nearly 40 high school and college students trained to be compassionate pro-life leaders at the 2019 PULSE Leadership Institute. Students heard from national speakers on pro-life issues, took field trips, and practiced pro-life activism while having a great time with other pro-life students.

Make plans to join us at the 2019 NOLA East Dinner for Life at. St. Maria Goretti Church on Saturday, July 27 and hear from Dustin Bertrand of Abbeville, who will share his amazing testimony of being a child conceived in rape. The NOLA East Dinner for Life will feature food, music and fellowship, and more!
Sponsorships are now available and tickets are on sale for the second Northwest Louisiana Pro-Life Prayer Breakfast, which will feature guest speaker Louisiana Attorney General Jeff Landry. The breakfast is Aug. 22 at First United Methodist Church in Shreveport. Seats are limited, so get your tickets today!
With many new abortion laws being approved around the country, most noteably the "Heartbeat" bills, there's been a lot of talk about "when life begins." Louisiana Right to Life interns T.J. Burgess and Taylor Gautreaux filmed this short video to set the record straight and let you know what the experts are saying, and teaching.
Make plans now to attend the New Orleans 40 Days for Life Launch Party on Thursday, Aug. 29 and hear from our inspiring keynote speaker Shawn Carney, president of 40 Days for Life. Shawn was portrayed in the movie  Unplanned released earlier this year telling the story of Abby Johnson. His work to expand the life-saving outreach of 40 Days for Life has been tremendous.
The Love Life Amendment will be on the ballot in 2020, and WE NEED YOU to help us get the word out! We are looking for volunteers to help us in each civil parish in Louisiana, and we need donations to help fund our campaign.
The Louisiana Life March dates have been set! Mark your calendars now and come "Love Life" with us at one of five marches: Lake Charles, Shreveport-Bossier, Baton Rouge, West Monroe-Monroe, and Pineville-Alexandria.
