Return of the Natives (RON) events are a great way to learn more about where you live, meet new people, get community service hours, and help protect our wonderful watershed that flows to the Monterey Bay!

Planting at Asilomar Beach Dunes 
March 16th
10am to 1pm

Volunteer to plant California native plants in heir new sandy dune home with a view, and help them to set down roots that educe erosion and grow to provide habitat.

Driving From the North(Santa Cruz) Below are directions to Asilomar coming from north on Hwy 1:Take the ramp onto CA-1 S.Take exit 399A for CA-68 W toward Pacific Grove/Pebble Beach. Turn right onto CA-68 W. Turn right onto Crocker Ave. 
 
Driving From the East(Salinas/Highway 101) Take Monterey/Highway 68 West from Salinas. Turn south on Highway 1 (approximately 15 miles). From Highway 1 take 68 West to Pacific Grove, 68 will turn into Sunset Drive in Pacific Grove. Follow to Crocker st. Look for parking.

 
Cesar Chavez Day Cleanup!
March 30th, 10am to 1pm
Cesar Chavez Park, Salinas

To commemorate Cesar Chavez' commitment to social justice and farmworkers' rights, Return of the Natives invites volunteers to join in a day of service at Cesar Chavez Park/Hebron Community Park in Salinas.

 

Volunteers are invited to help clean up trash and debris to make the park a better place for bothwildlife and people. 

 

Directions:
From E. Market Street in Salinas, turn left (if coming from the 101) or right (if coming from Sanborn) on to N. Hebbron . Hebbron Ave will take you into the parking lot. Follow the Return of the Natives event signs!

What do you need to know about volunteering at an community event?

1. Everyone is welcome! It is a great family activity that is free

 

2. Check in and sign a waiver at our event or in advance. 


3. Under 18? Your waiver will need to be signed by your parent or guardian to participate. Click here to download a waiver

4. Tools, snacks and water are supplied at events.

5. Wear clothes you don't mind getting dirty.

6. No RSVP is necessary unless you are with a group of 8 or greater. Just drop in!

Monterey Bay Charter School Teamed up with Return of the Natives 
for the 7 Annual Plant-a-thon!

Trowels, many hands, soil, plants, smiles and the sweet sounds of Micro-tonic Harmonic blue grass bands made for an extra special Saturday at Ft. Ord National Monument! Thousands of plants were planted to restore habitat and increase plant diversity.THANK YOU!
          
                      

Monterey Bay Charter School has been planting native plants as a way to raise money for their school since 2006, and has been teaming up with Return of the Natives since 2009 for this wonderful way to raise money and promote stewardship. 5% of all funds raised bare donated back to Return of the Natives to continue programming.
