Sunday's Readings:
First Reading — Jesus tells the disciples that they will be witnesses to the ends of the earth (Acts 1:1-11).
Psalm — God mounts his throne to shouts of joy: a blare of trumpets for the Lord (Psalm 47).
Second Reading — God seated Jesus at his right hand in the heavens (Ephesians 1:17-23) or Hebrews 9:24-28; 10:19-23.
Gospel — As Jesus blessed his disciples he parted from them and was taken up to heaven (Luke 24:46-53).

Sunday we celebrate Jesus’ return to heaven. If we struggle to know how to feel about this event, we take our cue from Jesus’ disciples. These disciples are first-hand witnesses to the Ascension, returning afterword to Jerusalem, where “they were continually in the temple praising God.”
Long-time companions of the Lord, they surely feel the pain of physical separation from Jesus. Yet they praise God continually. They accept God’s plan, looking forward to the day when Christ will come again.
As our reading from Hebrews affirms, Christ will return to “bring salvation to those who eagerly await him.” This Good News is almost too much to take in; the Acts of the Apostles explains that an angel has to wake the disciples from their stupor, reminding them to start the Lord’s work.
Sunday’s readings are our own angel, sending us forth in joyful hope.

Please know that a safe and caring environment at Queen of the Rosary School is a top priority. We continually update our school’s crisis plan, conduct safety drills and confer with the Elk Grove Village Police Department to ensure that our safety procedures are current.
Additionally, all doors are locked during the school day, and procedures for visitors to the building are in place.

World Communications Day is celebrated annually on the Sunday before Pentecost. Pope Paul VI established World Communications Day in 1967, following the Second Vatican Council, to remind the church to review opportunities and challenges in using modern communication tools to share the Good News of Jesus Christ.
This year, Pope Francis has decided on the theme "listen" for World Communications Day, observing that listening is a key component of communication. Elaborating, he shared this story...A respected doctor, accustomed to treating the wounds of the soul, was once asked what the greatest need of human beings is. He replied: “The boundless desire to be heard”.

The Women’s Centers. Supporting the Women’s Center can help provide answers…and hope as it has done for more than 63,000 clients over the past 30 years. Facing an unplanned pregnancy can be extremely stressful. Women may experience feelings of panic. Maybe they don’t have anyone to confide in or don’t know where to go for help. The Women’s Center is here for them and cares about the physical and emotional health of each one of its clients. Free pregnancy tests, free ultrasounds and free supportive counseling.

The month of May is truly a celebration of motherhood. Traditionally, May has been dedicated to the Blessed Virgin Mary. It is also the time in which we honor and thank our earthly mothers for their sacrificial love. And the Feast of the Visitation on May 31 celebrates the meeting of two mothers—Mary and Elizabeth—both with a child hidden within their wombs.
In addition to “walking with” mothers in love, support, and friendship, we can also help answer their needs for practical and material assistance. Inspired by our Blessed Mother, we can help connect mothers with the Church’s extensive network of social services to ensure mothers and their children obtain all the necessities of life. Through generous stewardship of the gifts God has entrusted to us of prayer, time, talent, and treasure, we can help meet the needs of mothers as they welcome and care for God’s precious gift of life.

It's starting to feel a lot like summer outside! As a reminder, we are feeding both guests housed in local hotels and those who come through our drive-through on the first Thursday of each month. We served 145 meals in May, thanks to your generosity! Our next Supper is scheduled for Thursday, June 2, 2022.

The Book Club will meet on Monday, June 6th at 7pm in Shea Hall. Correction...Heaven Starts Now was May's book. We will be discussing Pray, Decide and Don't Worry: Five Steps to Discerning God’s Will by Jackie and Bobby Angel in collaboration with Fr. Mike Schmitz. Discover a clear five-step discernment process for navigating what St. Ignatius of Loyola calls the movements of the soul, the deeper realities that clue Catholics in to what God is doing deep within their hearts and where He is leading them.
Book Club will take July and August off to enjoy the Summer with friends and family and resume again in September. Stay tuned for news of the next book and more!

Feed My Starving Children |
Just in time for Summer Break, please get ready to join the Marriage & Family and Good Samaritan Ministries for a service event at Feed My Starving Children in Schaumburg on Tuesday, June 7th from 4:30 to 6:15pm. Parishioners may sign up as a family or individually. Groups/families of 4 - 5 may work together at a packing station as a team, or we can split you up if you prefer. Children 5 and older may participate in this event. Please note children under 18 must be accompanied by an adult.

Charismatic Music Group will lead sung prayer for Corpus Christi at the 9:15am Mass at SJE Sunday, June 19th.
All choir groups will take July and part of August off to enjoy the Summer with family and friends. Rehearsals will resume in August. Stay tuned for more information!

Priests' Health and Retirement |
Priests have dedicated their lives to ministry, serving our needs as Catholics from the moment we are baptized until we receive last rites before entering eternal life. Priests’ Health and Retirement/ PRMAA provides for the health and well-being of 450 active and 254 retired archdiocesan priests. We will take a special collection to support our retired priests at all Masses on June 12th.

Thank you for participating in the Church’s largest consultation in history! Unlike a council beginning in Rome and then being disseminated around the world, a synod is a grass-roots effort that takes place at the local level. In October, Our Holy Father introduced the “Synod on Synodality” because He believes that only the entire people of God journeying together can answer the question, “What is the Holy Spirit saying to the church today?”

Totus Tuus is a week-long, summer youth retreat for people in first through 12th grade. Children will grow in their faith through skits, games, songs, the celebration of the sacraments and engaging, interactive teaching. Care Ministers must be mandated and may participate in one or more of the following activities: visits to the Homebound, prayer services at AMITA, AMITA Rehab, Alexian Village or Promedica (formerly Manor Care.)
