Asbury Blood Drive: Friday, August 9

Asbury will be hosting a Blood Drive with the Community Blood Center on Friday, August 9 from 10 am-2 pm in Hager Hall.

All healthy individuals are called to make a life-saving blood donation. Appointments are preferred; walk-ins will be accepted as capacity allows. Schedule your appointment by visiting the following link: click here.

Donating blood is easy and our blood supply relies exclusively on the generosity of volunteer blood donors. There is no substitute for human blood. Most people qualify as a volunteer donor, even if they are taking medications. Want more information? Click here to access a list of frequently asked questions.

Thank you for considering to be a donor and helping to make this blood drive a success!

Blessing of the Backpacks: Sunday, August 11

We know the start of the school year can be filled with many different emotions and we want to help all our young people and teachers start the year off great.

College students, youth, children, teachers, and school faculty and staff are encouraged to bring their school bags (backpacks, bags, briefcases, etc) to worship to receive a special blessing and encouragement for the upcoming school year.

This opportunity for blessing and encouragement will occur at both the 9 a.m. and 11 a.m. services on Sunday, August 11.

Words Matter Luncheon: Sunday, August 18 from 12:15-2:00 pm

Asbury is a community where we proudly proclaim ‘All Means All!’ We seek to be a space where the LGBTQIA+ community are fully loved and welcomed in all facets of church life. We recognize that Words Matter, and in continuing our mission to being fully inclusive, on August 18 following worship in Hager Hall, you are invited to join in a conversation for how we can best be engaged in ministry.

If you identify as LGBTQIA+, are an ally, or simply have questions, please join us for this conversation. Lunch will be provided (please let us know of any dietary restrictions). RSVP to the church office by Friday, August 16 by calling 913-432-5573 or emailing phyllisw@visitasbury.org. Your presence and your words matter to us in ensuring we continue to faithfully live out our mission of ‘All Means All.’

632 items were collected in all, as well as $90 in cash! Thank you so very much to everyone who contributed to help make our local students' lives a little easier as they transition back to school.
