Children’s Museum of Franklin is incredibly thankful for the generous support of the Franklin Cultural District and Mass Cultural Council. By fully funding our 2024 Grant request for $1,489.75, the Museum was able to build out a MakerSpace exhibit area for our Mobile Museums.
The Mobile Museums saw 3,000 visitors in the first six months of 2024. The addition of the MakerSpace exhibit area allowed for children and families both within Franklin and the surrounding region to have a creative outlet to explore and express themselves, grow their imaginations, and learn through play. Children created so many incredible things, including dinosaurs and various creatures with Model Magic, pipe cleaners, feathers, googley eyes, and more; animals made from hearts; hearts for the Hearts of Kindness project; beaded animal collars and leashes; paper bag and cotton ball animals; butterflies to fly through our wind tunnel; wind-powered vehicles; toilet paper roll sea anemones; and so much more!
Through this positive trial of the MakerSpace in our Mobile Museums, Children's Museum of Franklin is now including a MakerSpace into our permanent location being designed and built out at 157 Cottage Street, Franklin, to be able to bring STEAM-based learning through play to children in the community for generations to come.
The Franklin Cultural District Committee gratefully acknowledges the support of the Mass Cultural Council and Town of Franklin.

Mary Olsson, MCC Cultural District Investment Fund recipient, thanked and updated the FCDC on the glass negatives.
The Mass Cultural Council through the Franklin Cultural District Committee provided a grant of $900 to Mary Olsson to have 600 glass plate negatives professionally scanned and digitized by Almont Green for future preservation. There will also be a glossy print copy produced of each negative. The digitized negatives will preserve these images from a private collection for Franklin residents to view and enjoy for all time. The photo accompanying this article is one of the glass negatives, brought to life in digital form.
The Franklin Cultural District Committee gratefully acknowledges the support of the Mass Cultural Council and Town of Franklin.
