Volume 4, May 8, 2024

Greetings Friends in Arts and Culture ...

This newsletter highlights the first Artsy Box of 2024 ... Paper Planes by Fatima Wojohat. This box is located by the Library, at School and Main Streets.

We are pleased to celebrate two newly expanded businesses in Franklin's arts and culture community:

La Cantina Winery reopened at 230 Cottage Street, just a few feet from the original location. The new venue includes a full service restaurant, in addition to fabulous wine! It also continues to be a location for Live Music!!

Fiori and Fern moved from the Mill Store complex to 138 East Central Street. The one time automobile showroom has been renovated and transformed under the leadership of Brad Chaffee. Visit this creative location for florals, botanicals and gifts.

Enjoy this issue of all things arts and culture.

Arts and Culture Happen in Franklin and beyond!

Weekly Artsy Box Update ... First 2024 Box!

It has been a beautiful week and our boxes are all primed and ready. Some of our artists are getting right to work. This week, Dean College student and artist Fatima Wojohat had worked and completed her artwork “Paper Planes”. The art shares wishes and dreams of a young girl being able to play an instrument.

Wojohat recently had an exhibit at the Franklin Historical Museum, collaborating with the Franklin High School String Quartet led by Dianne Plouffe, Director of Music for Franklin Public Schools. The free event allowed Wojohat to share more about her experience as a young Afghan and the opportunity for an education that Dean College has provided. She hopes to continue to connect with others as a new Franklin resident through her journey.

We are grateful for the support of the MassCultural Council and the Town of Franklin, and assistance from the Franklin Cultural District Committee.

Take a walk in the Cultural District and enjoy Fatima Wojohat's Paper Planes. The Artsy Box is located by the Franklin Public Library on the corner of Main and School Streets.

Franklin PorchFest - June 1st!

Believe it or not, Franklin's PorchFest event is less than 30 days away! The porch and performer registration is now closed and we are excited that we have over 35 porches and 49 bands registered for Franklin's first ever PorchFest event. The PorchFest Committee is busy matching performers with porches and setting the performance times - they expect to have the schedule listing porch locations and performance time slots posted online at our website by the end of next week. Stay connected and follow us on FaceBook or Instagram and at Franklin.PorchFest.Info. This event is made possible with support from the Mass Cultural Council, Town of Franklin and the Franklin Cultural District Committee.
