Take a moment to read through the offerings ... fundraisers, music performances, visual art, speakers, a movie under the stars, trivia, book discussions, and the return of Silent Saturdays at the Museum.

Wednesday September 4, 6:30pm: Franklin Art Association Monthly Meeting & Demonstration by artist, Kim Weineck. The Franklin Art Association invites the public to their monthly meeting. The guest demonstration - artist is Kim Morin Weinect, the fine art painter for this month's meeting. She will be giving a fine art gouache, step by step demonstration. Her work can be found at Gallery 9 in Norwood, Zullo Gallery in Medfield, the Design Center at Franklin Mill Store and other venues. Wednesday, September 4, 7:00pm, Friends of the Franklin Library Meeting at Franklin Public Library. Friends of the Franklin Library is an all-volunteer, nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting and promoting the Franklin Public Library. We meet monthly from September to May and are always looking for new Friends to join us.

Thursday, September 12, 7:00pm, Purple Turtle Productions and event co-sponsors, IYRS School of Technology and Trades, will host the premiere of Episode 1 of The Boatbuilders at the JPT Film and Event Center in Newport, RI.

The Boatbuilders is a documentary series that explores the rich legacy and present-day impact of the boatbuilding community in the northeastern United States. The premiere episode highlights Rhode Island’s maritime heritage and features local organizations dedicated to the preservation and restoration of historic sailing vessels.

The Director, Gregg Seibert, currently serves as Assistant Professor of Communications and Video Production at Dean Colleges. The Producer, R. A. Lawson is a Professor of History and Director of the Honors Program at Dean College. For more information about this documentary, select Turtle.

Saturday, September 14, 7:30pm, An Evening with the Aging Ingenue! at THE BLACK BOX. Join Broadway’s Sara Jean Ford for a night of music and comedy celebrating one of musical theater’s most quintessential heroines, the ingénue. Part concert, part theater piece, part existential crisis – An Evening with the Aging Ingénue is a musical comedy concert, once described by Playbill as “a raucously funny evening of music and storytelling.” Featuring songs from Andrew Lloyd Webber, Tim Minchin, Rodgers and Hammerstein, Charles Strouse, and Stephen Schwartz – An Evening with the Aging Ingénue is jam-packed with a wide range of young, hopeful (and often tragically naive) songs from Broadway and beyond.
