Fiber art takes many forms. For Franklin, this will be visual, public art, composed of knitted and crocheted elements that will be staged outside, in the Benjamin Franklin Plaza of the Franklin Public Library. (Photo credit: Sue Cass)
This art installation is a thank you to the Public Library and a way of sharing the art of knitting and crocheting with the greater Franklin community. The Library has welcomed knitters and crocheters each Friday morning, as they practice their artform in a community setting.
The exhibit will be installed on Friday, September 27 and ready for viewing on Saturday, September 28. The exhibit will be in place for several weeks.
The fiber artists are thankful to the Public Library for its support over the years and to the DPW for installation assistance. The yarn for the exhibit was donated by the fiber artists and by their friends or friends of friends. The fiber artists hope the greater Franklin community will stop by the Library’s Benjamin Franklin Plaza and enjoy this fiber art exhibit.
For more information listen to a podcast featuring Sue Cass and Anne Frye, facilitated by Steve Sherlock. They discuss and explain this fiber art project. Listen here.
