Apply for a $500 City of Lansing Pocket Grant!
Do you have a creative arts-based idea you want to see come to fruition? Then a $500 pocket-sized grant could be your answer! Anyone interested in producing arts-based projects, events or installations in neighborhoods within the City of Lansing can submit brief proposals for a monthly review and quick turnaround. The Mini Pocket Grants for Art are awarded to people and organizations who collaborate with a Lansing non-profit to artistically bring an area to life. These grants are ongoing. Learn more.

The State News is accepting applications for an art director who will serve as the department's creative lead for all concepts and projects. The art director plays a key role in setting student media's identity and the strategic direction of the department in the areas of branding, product design, business development, strategic planning and promotions. WILX is accepting applications for a news editor/photographer. General purpose of this position is to generate content for broadcasts, web channel and social media. The photographer’s primary focus will be to shooting/editing video and general news gathering, either teamed with a reporter or solo for across various media channels. Learn more.

The Arts Council is seeking a social media intern who will work with the communications manager and other key staff to assist in monitoring all social media channels. Overall goal of the position is to increase engagement with followers and those in the arts community who could benefit from our services as well as create content and marketing campaigns and strategies. The Lansing Art Gallery is seeking a summer "virtual" arts education intern who will assist with social media, marketing and managing virtual arts programming. Interested candidates should email a letter of interest and a copy of their resume to Michelle Carlson, education director, at Michelle@lansingartgallery.org .

Friends of Durant Park  in Lansing, Mich.  is seeking an experienced artist or team to give new life to a dying tree in the park by turning it into an art work. This project idea was inspired by Chicago Tree Project artist Samantha Rausch. Extended deadline is June 30, 2020.  Learn more.

Chesterfield Music & Arts Festival announces a call to artists for this annual festival, held this year Sept. 5-6, 2020 at Chesterfield Amphitheater in St Louis, Missouri. All mediums welcome. $25 application fee. Application deadline Aug. 15, 2020.  Learn more.

Higher Art Gallery announces a call to artists for its annual all-media juried exhibit,
"Citizens Coping: artists respond to the last four years." As this exhibit lands smack dab during the month of the 2020 election, the gallery invites artists of all mediums to examine how the last four years have changed them personally (or not), and express how the actions of this administration have affected them (or COVID-19). Huron Valley Council for the Arts is seeking 50 artists to display and sell their work at the Arts & Greens Holiday Market. The Market is set amidst the beautiful greenery inside the Bogie Lake Greenhouses in Highland, Mich. and held Nov. 20-22, 2020. Deadline for applications is Aug. 1 2020.  Learn more.

Bay Harbor announces a call to artists for the 21st Annual Bay Harbor Arts Festival, held July 24 & 25, 2020 in the Village at Bay Harbor. Awards: $750 First, $500 Second, $250 Third. Media types accepted are: ceramics, drawing, fiber, furniture, glass, jewelry, mixed media 2D, mixed media 3D, painting, photography, sculpture, metal and wood. Application deadline is June 25, 2020. VSA Emerging Young Artists announces a call to artists for " Merge: Nation's Best Emerging Artists with Disabilities." They invite artists ages 16 -25 to consider the intersections and combinations of their creative process and disability identity. This year’s exhibit theme, Merge, explores uniting paths and asks what we can learn when it all comes together. Grand Prize is $20,000, First Prize is $10,000, Second Prize is $6,000, and the remaining Awards of Excellence are $2,000 each. Application deadline is June 20, 2020. The Northville Art House seeks contemporary artworks created in any media by artists who experiment with traditional techniques, technologies and media or employ new and emerging developments for the annual West of Center: Juried All-Media Exhibition to be held September 1-26, 2020. Juried by Michigan painter Tom Hale, the exhibition has $700 in cash awards for 1st-4th place plus honorable mentions. Enter up to three works. Application deadline is July 12, 2020. Learn more.

AuSable Artisan Village is thrilled to announce a call to artists for the second annual Great Northern Art Explosion public and juried art exhibition in Grayling, Mich. Artists will compete for a $5,000 grand prize sponsored by Kirtland Community College, and $3,000 in juried awards selected by juror, artist and MONA founder Jef Bourgeau. Open to all artists in the US, especially the Midwest region, any theme or medium. Application deadline is July 10, 2020. Learn more.

Camelback Gallery is seeking artists for their international online "Paint Your Pet" competition. This competition is open to all artists 18 years and older. All painting mediums allowed, including pencil and charcoal. Artwork must be a pet. Any domestic or tamed animal kept for companionship or pleasure. Dogs, cats, bunnies, mice, fish, horses, birds, reptiles, lizards, goats, hamsters, pigs, etc. Cash awards. The Cedarburg Art Museum is accepting submissions for its 7th annual juried exhibition, “Masters as Muses.” Many artists can look back and find master artists who have provided inspiration for their style of execution or subject matter. In “Masters as Muses” artists are challenged to include an image of a master artist’s creation in their application that has inspired their style of art or a specific subject matter. The idea is not to copy or re-create the master, but to re-invent. Application deadline is July 31, 2020. Learn more.

The Bennett Prize, created in 2018, awards $50,000 to a woman artist to create her own solo exhibition of figurative realist paintings, which will travel the country. The Prize will propel the careers of women painters who have not yet realized full professional recognition, empowering new artists and those who have painted for many years. The Prize will expand opportunities for the public, who may not be familiar with figurative realist painting, to learn more about the creative vision of talented women painters in this increasingly popular genre. Deadline to apply is Oct. 16, 2020. Learn more.
