Seeking Executive Director


The Executive Director of Storytelling Arts of Indiana (SAI), Ellen Munds, will be retiring from her role on June 30, 2024, after leading the organization since it was established in 1987. You can read about her accomplishments and contributions to promoting the art of storytelling locally and nationally here.

With Ellen’s departure, the SAI Board of Directors now welcomes applications from individuals with related leadership experience and knowledge of nonprofit organizations. Preferred candidates will have practical experience with fundraising, volunteer development, and collaborations. A love of storytelling and a commitment to share that passion with others would be a plus.

The Arts Federation operates the Wells Community Cultural Center, which is located at the heart of the Greater Lafayette Community and serves as an anchor facility for the state-designated Tippecanoe Arts & Cultural District. TAF's gallery program provides display and sales opportunities to north central Indiana artists. Exhibitions in TAF's galleries are selected through a juried application process.


Three spaces are available for exhibitions at the Wells Community Cultural Center. Please note choice of gallery and exhibition dates will be awarded according to each applicant's score.

11th Annual Strawberry Wine Label Design Competition


Entries Due April 4th


What: A design challenge to create an original wine label artwork to be featured on the 2024 Carpenter Creek Cellars Annual Strawberry Wine, celebrating and fundraising for PAC’s Rock the Arts Festival.


The Winner will receive a framed wine label that features their artwork. The winning entry becomes the property of the Prairie Arts Council for recreation and commercial use.

30th Annual Juried Art Exhibition


The Art Barn School of Art is delighted to announce our 30th Annual Juried Art Exhibition. The purpose of this long-standing exhibition is to promote the creation and recognition of original quality 2-dimensional works of art, as well as ceramic arts. The exhibition attracts entries from established and aspiring artists from Northwest Indiana, Chicago suburbs and Southwest Michigan and beyond. Brian Byrn, Director and curator at the Midwest Museum of American Art will bring an expert curatorial eye to this year’s artwork selection process, and as juror Mr. Byrn will help Art Barn ensure the highest standards and integrity.

 

The entry process is entirely online with a deadline for submissions at midnight on February 25, 2024. To learn more visit artbarnschool.org. The exhibition opens April 13 and will run through May 23, 2024 with an opening reception scheduled for April 19 from 5:00 to 8:00pm CST.

Exhibit Space Available


Opportunity for artists, community groups, nonprofits, and individuals to display their work at Central Library.

Central Library has display cases available for civic, educational, artistic, or cultural exhibits. This exhibit space is free to utilize, and it is not intended for commercial purposes. Central Library's goal is to highlight voices, spotlight nonprofit efforts, enhance lifelong learning, and bring relevant talking points to the community.

The exhibits will change quarterly, running from January to March, April to June, July to September, and October to December, providing the public with ample opportunities throughout the year to share their work. Individuals can display infographics, signs, paintings, photography, sculpture, documents, artifacts, and ephemera in the cases.

Indiana Treasurer of State

Seeking Artwork for 2024 Exhibition: "Children: Learning, Playing, Growing"


The Indiana State Treasurer is one of five constitutional offices and has broad responsibilities and authority in the areas of investment and finance. Daniel Elliott serves as the 56th Treasurer of State, the fifth highest-ranking statewide government official. The Treasurer is elected statewide every four years. In addition to being the State’s chief investment officer and banker, the Treasurer serves as chairperson or a member of numerous State boards, commissions, and authorities.

Submissions will be reviewed and selected by staff of the Indiana State Treasurer’s Office. The theme will be Children: Learning, Playing, Growing. The Treasurer would like to feature all types of media (photography, paintings, drawings, mixed media, etc.).

Artwork must be 2D and framed (if appropriate), wired, and ready to hang. There are no size restrictions on artwork. Artwork should be a minimum of 24” x 24” and maximum of 36” x 36”.

All Indiana artists over the age of 18 are welcome to submit.

Work must be delivered to the Indiana State Treasurer’s Office by Friday, March 1st and picked up within a week of the close of the exhibition. Artwork may be available for sale with the artist being responsible for managing the sale (the Treasurer’s Office will connect interested patrons with the artist to complete sales). The Treasurer’s office will not take a commission on sales.

INverse Poetry Archive Accepting Entries


INverse, an initiative of former Indiana Poet Laureate Adrian Matejka, is the state poetry archive, and celebrates and preserves the diverse range of Indiana poetry for future generations of Indiana writers and readers. The works of 57 poets were added to the poetry archive in October 2023.

All eligible residents of Indiana are encouraged to submit poems to the archive for review. Entries are due April 30, 2024.

Town of Cumberland

Indiana Seeks Bands for Monthly Shows


Blues, Beer, & BBQ is an annual series of community concerts from June to September in Cumberland, IN. Each month will feature a unique theme. Interested bands must provide a one-hour engaging set corresponding to the month’s theme. Event Details:

  • Date: June 29 | 6-10 pm (Chicago Blues, includes Fireworks)
  • Date: July 27 | 5-9 pm (Ladies’ Night)
  • Date: August 31 | 5-9 pm (Southern Blues)

The town of Cumberland provides participating bands with sound equipment, basic lighting, and a drum kit to facilitate quick turnover between performances. A Fair of The Arts Seeking Vendors

Seeking Applicants for Arts Project Support Grant Program


Arts Project Support grants provide nonprofit organizations and public entities with funding to support a specific arts activity, such as a one-time event, a single production, an exhibition, an educational workshop, or a series of related arts activities such as art classes or training sessions.

The purpose of the program is to provide broad access to arts opportunities throughout the state. Applicants may request up to $4,000 to support their project, and there is no match requirement. Projects must occur between July 1, 2024 and June 30, 2025 to be eligible for FY25 Arts Project Support.

This is a 1:1 matching grant of between $50,000 and $250,000 to fund destination development efforts. Any and all entities are eligible to apply. The Destination Development Grant Program seeks big transformative ideas. Preference will be given to large-scale projects that enhance existing tourism development efforts in communities, regions or the state of Indiana. Proposals are expected to detail transformational projects that strengthen the applicant’s destination profile. The Craft Emergency Relief Fund Get Ready program provides individual craft artists grants up to $1,000 to conduct activities that will help safeguard their studios, protect their careers and prepare for emergencies. The DeHaan Artist of Distinction Award provides contemporary visual artists with grants of up to $10,000 to pursue aspirational projects. The final projects are shown during a special exhibit at Gallery 924.

The Christel DeHaan Family Foundation and Indy Arts Council launched the award program in 2017 and opened the program to artists statewide in 2021.

Adolph & Esther Gottlieb Foundation Emergency Grant


The Adolph and Esther Gottlieb Emergency Grant program is intended to provide interim financial assistance to qualified painters, printmakers, and sculptors whose needs are the result of an unforeseen, catastrophic incident, and who lack the resources to meet that situation.

Each grant is given as one-time assistance for a specific emergency, examples of which are fire, flood, or emergency medical need. 

This program has no deadlines.

Created in 1993 to further FCA's mission to encourage, sponsor, and promote work of a contemporary, experimental nature, Emergency Grants provide urgent funding for visual and performing artists who:

  • Have sudden, unanticipated opportunities to present their work to the public when there is insufficient time to seek other sources of funding
  • Incur unexpected or unbudgeted expenses for projects close to completion with committed exhibition or performance dates

Emergency Grants is the only active, multi-disciplinary program that offers immediate, project-based assistance of this kind to artists living and working anywhere in the United States, for projects occurring in the U.S. and abroad.

For most of our 30 years, the Prairie Arts Council offered an intensive week of summer arts workshops for individuals of all ages in a wide variety of art media. After a 3 year hiatus, ARTCAMP returned 2022 with a week of art workshops for all ages.

National Endowment for the Arts Seeks Translators for Translation Projects


Through fellowships to published translators, the National Endowment for the Arts (NEA) supports projects for the translation of specific works of prose, poetry, or drama from other languages into English. The work to be translated should be of interest for its literary excellence and merit. The NEA encourages translations of writers and of work that are not well represented in English, as well as work that has not previously been translated into English. The NEA is committed to diversity, equity, inclusion, and fostering mutual support for the diverse beliefs and values of all individuals and groups.

Competition for fellowships is rigorous. Potential applicants should consider carefully whether their work will be competitive at the national level.

The Learning Tree Seeks Four Poets in Residence for Poetic Justice Program


The Learning Tree seeks four Indianapolis-area poets for their Poetic Justice Poet in Residence program. Poetic Justice is a peace-building and community safety program that integrates poetry and creative writing to foster social connectedness and cultivate visions of safe, nurturing communities through writing and asset-based community projects. We currently seek poets interested in having their original written work studied during our cohort sessions and participating in several of our meetings.

Poets should be Indianapolis residents, able to commit to three 1.5 hour meetings within the 15 weeks and be actively involved in the community within the last 5 years. Poetic Justice uses a cohort model, meeting once a week for 15 weeks. Poets in residence are expected to share at least one poem for a cohort to read, lead at least one poetry writing workshop and discussion, attend at least three PJ sessions, and offer one original writing to the Poetic Justice anthology.

Writers in residence will receive a $1,500 stipend.

Challenge America offers support primarily to small organizations for projects that extend the reach of the arts to underserved groups/communities. Challenge America features an abbreviated application, a robust structure of technical assistance, and grants for a set amount of $10,000. Grants require a cost share/match of $10,000 consisting of cash and/or in-kind contributions. Total project costs must be at least $20,000 or greater.

The 500 Festival Seeks Chalk Artist


The 500 Festival is seeking a chalk artist to work on May 11th, 10:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. (ish). The artist will be paid a $350 fee.


For the 500 Festival Kids Day, the 500 Festival is looking for an artist that can do fun basic chalk art designs that kids will be interested in while they also draw with chalk around them.

Kids Day is a free day of play for all kids where Monument Circle is turned into a carnival and filled with all types of vendors. The idea is to have an artist in a stanchioned area who will draw fun designs for attendees to watch and also have an open space in the same area for kids to draw on the street for fun.

Artist Studios for Rent at the New Wapahani Art Center


Applications are now being accepted for ARTIST STUDIOS FOR RENT at the WAPAHANI ART CENTER at 1103 Kentucky Avenue in Downtown INDY. Within a few feet of the beautiful waterfront wilderness of White River, Wapahani Trail, studio spaces range from 250 – 650 sq.ft. Prices start at $350.00 per month. Space includes utilities, common area maintenance, free parking and artist event nights. Most spaces have sinks and windows.

Indiana Arts Commission Hosts Artist Needs Survey


Beginning in the Fall of 2023, the Indiana Arts Commission (IAC) launched a statewide Artist Needs Assessment. The goals of the Artist Needs Assessment are threefold:

  • Create an opportunity for local artists to network, connect, and learn from peers.
  • Inform new and refined services and programming for individual artists in Indiana.
  • Provide an open forum for artists of a variety of backgrounds to voice opinions, concerns, experiences, and needs connected to their experience as an Indiana creative.

IndyFringe Seeks Plays from Black Playwrights for OnyxFest


This marks the fifth anniversary of the collaboration between IndyFringe and the Africana Repertory Theatre of IUPUI (ARTI) and the 14th staging of OnyxFest - the first and only theater festival in Indiana spotlighting exclusively works of Black writers. Grants will cover all expenses required to bring scripts from the page to the stage, says OnyxFest Director Vernon A. Williams. “This is an event designed to empower Black artists to create their own narrative and to tell their own unique stories.”
