Conference Report: Bellows Falls was Jamming

More than 500 people gathered in Bellows Falls on June 5-6 for back-to-back conferences celebrating efforts to revitalize Vermont communities.

At the 2024 Vermont Downtown and Historic Preservation Conference on June 5, participants learned proven strategies for community revitalization. At the sold-out 2024 Creative Sector Convening on June 6, participants focused on creative entrepreneurship, community resilience, and casemaking.

Vermont ranks as one of the most highly creative states. According to the most recent US Bureau of Economic Analysis study, arts and culture contributed nearly $1.2 billion to the Vermont economy in 2022. The Vermont Arts Council is funded, in part, by a grant from the National Endowment for the Arts, which requires a 1:1 match from the Vermont State Legislature. Council grants, programs, and statewide arts promotion would not be possible without the critical funding provided by these government agencies.
