Maya Green Stone Ear Ornaments

Late Classic, Ca.  600 to 900  AD.  Good deep green stone carved openwork flare discs with flange border with two perforations each for attachments as well as central additions in multiple parts. also drilled at centers for attachment. Lovely color and polish and intact. Size: each 4 inch (11cm) L. + custom mount.  Choice with excellent patina. Provenance: Ex Peter H, Duvall WA. acquired 1990s - 2000s. Fine examples.

Colima Pottery Redware Dog

West Mexico,  Protoclassic Period,  ca. 100 B.C. to A.D. 250 A red-brown pottery standing dog with a rear tail spout, perked ears, incised mouth and circular shaped eyes. Large belly may denote she is pregnant to harness the powers of fertility,  Overall strong mineral deposits and root marks. Size  12-3/4 inches Length x 9-3/4 inches H. This lively dog is a representation of the hairless dogs used in ancient Colima as pets, providers of warmth, and sources of sustenance. Dogs played an important role in the transportation of souls to the afterlife.  Provenance: Private NYC collection acquired in the USA market.

Haida Carved Argillite Model Totem Pole

Northwest coast, Early Mid 20th century AD Carved black stone model stacked with symbolic animals. At base is a seated beaver shaman, his face with wide snout above and deep set eyes; atop is a raven with extended wings and triangular beak Size 9 ½ inches Height Condition overall excellent. No breaks. No apparent restoration. Provenance: Property of an Upstate New York Collector.
