NEWS - NEWS - NEWS
Corina was invited again to curate another exhibition at Arte, INC. Connecticut artists with Latin roots bring different perspectives to their artistic works, so it is with great pleasure that she has accepted the invitation to put together a group of these talented people to show you their particular views. Corina is currently working with Arte Inc in putting it all together and will let you know on the dates of the exhibition in our next issue. Note: ARTE INC is a non-profit grassroots organization dedicated to Promoting Latino Art, Culture & Talent. Arte establishes partnerships with community agencies and groups to improve quality of life of residents. Arte also assists artists, organizes programs, events, shows and exhibits. Arte develops and runs effective youth programming to engage children and mold better citizens, and most importantly it provides education. NEWS - NEWS - NEWS Corina's new studio is almost ready and plans are already on their way for a Grand-Opening in the spring...stay tuned NEWS - NEWS - NEWS At the beginning of June, Corina will be participating in the 5th International Encautic Conference at Provincetown, Cape Cod, MA. Greetings!
Around here, we have been hit hard with unprecedented amounts of snow, cool temperatures, ice and slush everywhere, roofs collapsing...a total chaos. So much so, that it made me wish I was a bear to hibernate shamelessly until spring! However I've been reading more (just added a few more books to my art library), expanding my knowledge in Social Media, and... remember the donation I've been working on since last year? Well, I decided to create a non-for-profit blog and Facebook Fan page to raise Awareness on Dense Breast Tissue and the current screening methods. Women have already started to share their stories on the blog, and the latest post is from a very special lady, Dr. Nancy Cappella, from Are you Dense, Inc, who kindly wrote her story to share it on the Awareness blog. I hope to get lots of attention with this new and exciting project, while educating women on the breast density issue, so when I finally donate my sculpture "Awareness" to an non-profit organization, change has begun to happen. So, please visit http://www.dtbawareness.blogspot.com to learn more about it. Happy St. Valentines to all! May the love of family and friends keep you warm... and let's get out there and enjoy the art scene, I'd love to see you around! Corina

Time In: A Collaboration
April 16 - May 14, 2011
Corina has been invited to participate in a unique collaborative project involving Expressiones Cultural Center, Mitchell College, and the Judy Dworin Performance Project (JDPP). This project is made possible in part by a grant from the Connecticut Commission on Culture and Tourism.
The staging at Mitchell College of Judy Dworin's compelling work Time In, a signature piece based upon the lives of women imprisoned in the York Correctional Institution in Niantic, Connecticut, will take place on Sunday, April 17th at the College. Simultaneously, a thematic art exhibition, mounted both at Expressiones and at Mitchell, will explore visual interpretations of the experience and the broader implications of incarceration.
So, Corina, who can't say "no" to a challenge, is already busy, researching on the theme, to come out with two artworks for this exhibition. Stay tuned...
