The Art in Algiers Initiative started as a dream, but that vision has become a reality thanks to the collaboration of ADC (Algiers Development Corporation) and CVU (
Community Visions Unlimited). It all started with a recommendation by Algiers resident Erin Eustis to the ADC board that ADC might want to partner with CVU. Inspired by her idea to help bring an artistic flare to our neighborhood, ADC approached CVU to create the partnership now known as the Art in Algiers Initiative. Erin's neighborhood - Aurora West Civic Association - volunteered to donate the first box. ADC then followed suit by funding the next four (4) boxes to help kick start this wonderful initiative.
The concept is simple in design and calls upon local organizations to make a small donation that helps fund local artists to paint boxes. All the neighborhood must do is raise $500.00 and ADC sponsors the rest ($250.00) per neighborhood/organization to cover the total $750.00 cost of each box.
Art in Algiers has gradually gained momentum over the past year because of such phenomenal community partners reaching out to help restore our neighborhoods and create economic development opportunities for local artists. All the painted boxes in Algiers can be viewed at

And now, we are excited to announce that we have many brand-new additions to the Algiers area thanks to our friends over at the Rotary Club of Algiers! The Rotary Club recently contacted CVU and ADC to donate the cost of four boxes to be painted in Algiers; ADC provided the match for all four. Our Rotary Club's generosity benefitted two neighborhoods that had a traffic box but needed financing to cover program costs of hiring a local artist. The remaining two boxes can be seen on Behrman Highway at Walmart and on General DeGaulle at Behrman Highway for the community at large to enjoy. Scroll the photos below for our amazing new box art...
ADC is proud to partner with CVU on the Art in Algiers Initiative! The program has thrived in part thanks to the strong leadership and support of CVU leader Jeannie Tidy, who is striving every moment of every day to help beautify our neighborhoods all ove
r our City. Together, we are constantly seeking Algiers artists to paint additional boxes.
