"Weir Inspired: The Premiere Show of the Weir Farm Artist Collective" Art Exhibition

Opening Reception on Friday, September 6 @6pm at Wilton Library


Twenty-six area artists will be showcased in Wilton Library's September art exhibition "Weir Inspired: The Premiere Show of the Weir Farm Artist Collective." The Weir Farm Artist Collective, started in 2023, is a collaboration of independent artists following the tradition of creativity within the Weir Farm National Historical Park landscape. Its purpose is to inform, support, encourage, and engage accomplished artists of all mediums to share ideas, opportunities, and technical solutions. Local artists of all skill levels have the opportunity to connect and share during monthly meetings and paint-outs. 


The artists from the group will be exhibiting their works in an array of styles, media choices, and subject matter. The artists are: Chris Bedell (Ridgefield), Robert Boger (Tumbull), Leslie Carone (South Salem, NY), Thomas Carruthers (Bethel), Joan Cone (Newtown), Roberta Delano (Westport), Diane Dooley (Redding), Jama Hansonbrook (North Salem, NY), Alice Hayes (Ridgefield), Eva Llanos (South Salem, NY), Kathie Milligan (Stamford), Bobbi Eike Mullen (Georgetown), Jill Nichols (Shelton), Kelsie Oreta (Southport), Penny Pearlman (Westport), Maria Reed (South Salem, NY), Malina Schneider (Danbury), Lesley Schwarzschild (Westport), Loure Shaw (Ridgefield), Day Shields (Wilton), Clarice Shirvell (Ridgefield), Ival Stratford Kovner (Bethel), Eileen Tavolacci (Redding), Christina Tugeau (Fairfield), Eugene Willingham (New Fairfield), and Jane Wright Wolf (Weston).


The "Weir Inspired" art exhibition opens on Friday, September 6 with a reception from 6 to 7:30 p.m. The reception is free and open to the public. Exhibition runs through September 25. A majority of the works will be available for purchase with a portion of the proceeds benefiting the library. SEE DETAILS

Weir Farm: Inspiring an Artistic Legacy

Please join Park Ranger Kristin Lessard for an introduction to Weir Farm National Historical Park. The discussion will include a brief history of Weir Farm and how it became part of the National Park Service, as well as current programs and opportunities to get involved. Kristin will highlight the artistic legacy of Weir Farm, and how contemporary artists, like the members of the Weir Farm Artist Collective currently on exhibit here at the Wilton Library, use the park as a source of inspiration and creativity. Learn about the exciting Art in the Park programming, including the Park's Weir Farm Artist Collective, Artist-in-Residence program, Take Part in Art, Impressionist Painting Workshops, and more! Kristin Lessard has worked for the National Park Service since 2008. In her current position as Visitor Experience Program Manager at Weir Farm National Historical Park, Kristin oversees the park’s visitor service operations and engagement initiatives, which include history and fine art education programming for approximately 35,000 visitors a year, as well as dynamic youth and volunteer programs.
