Community Builders NJ, Inc., a Morristown-based construction management firm committed to projects that enhance the community by building enduring examples of craftsmanship, relationships and communities for future generations, recently held its company launch at the Columbus Club off Morristown’s Green. More than 150 Morris County and Northern New Jersey commercial real estate leaders attended the event, which also included New Jersey Builders’ Manager and Partner Niko Spasov presenting nonprofit Cheshire Home with the award of pro-bono construction management services for the transformation of a portion of Cheshire’s Florham Park facility into a vocational rehabilitation training center.

Spencer Savings Bank has awarded $37,500 in scholarships to local high school graduates. The scholarships are bestowed yearly to exceptional students in New Jersey. Each high school student received a $1,500 scholarship for college tuition assistance. Since the commencement of the bank’s scholarship program in 2002, almost $700,000 in scholarships has been awarded to deserving students throughout the state. Scholarship winners included Meera Patel of Parsippany Hills High School. | |

The Morris Museum has announced that Paul Muir will join the organization’s executive team as its Director of External Affairs later this month. A well-known community leader and experienced cultural professional, he brings to the role a wealth of perspective and skill at a critical moment in the history of the museum. Paul is Mayor of Bethlehem Township and recently served as president of the New Jersey Council of Mayors, is former Chairman of the Nonprofit Roundtable of the Morris County Chamber of Commerce, currently leads the statewide advocacy group PreservationNJ and is the former executive director of Red Mill Museum Village.

Law firm Weinstein and Klein announced Jasmine Patel has joined the firm as a Partner in its Labor and Employment group. Jasmine focuses her practice on counseling employers on varied labor and employment law issues and was selected as a “Rising Star” by New York Super Lawyers in 2022. She is a graduate of Maurice A. Deane School of Law at Hofstra University and Douglas College of Rutgers University.

Berkeley College announced the Paterson Education Fund recently honored LaTysha Gaines, Campus Operating Officer, and Berkeley College with the Executive Director’s Community Partnership Award. The award recognizes the college’s ongoing support and role in hosting the nonprofit’s 41st Annual Jazz Party at its Woodland Park campus on June 15, 2024. The school also announced the launch of a Bachelor of Science (BS) in Applied Media degree program, with concentrations in digital and social media and social and cultural responsibility. In addition, the Berkeley College Foundation welcomed a record 116 golfers to the Basking Ridge Country Club early last month for the Foundation’s 7th Annual Golf Outing. The event assists the Foundation in its mission to provide scholarships and support for student success.

Website design, development and hosting firm TAGOnline has developed a new word game called Word Third. Players solve three mystery words that relate to the current day’s theme as fast as they can. Words are four, five and six letters in length, respectively. One common letter called the Magic Letter will appear in all three words. Once the player makes a guess, the letters will change color to reflect accuracy until the mystery word is revealed.

Fairleigh Dickinson University (FDU) and Union College of Union County (UCNJ) have entered a partnership that will provide students who graduate from UCNJ the opportunity to pursue a bachelor’s degree with FDU, with the convenience of taking classes at UCNJ’s Scotch Plains Campus. UCNJ’s Scotch Plains Campus is the headquarters for the University Center, a destination campus with strategic four-year university partners. The Center allows associate degree graduates to take their third- and fourth-year courses and earn their bachelor’s degrees close to home.
Beginning as early as Spring 2025, FDU plans to offer bachelor's degrees in social work and select allied science programs. These programs are connected to the local labor market needs and will provide a strong foundation for careers fields that provide family-sustaining wages.
