The Arizona FFA Foundation had the honor to host the Leadership Executives of Agricultural Education/FFA Development (LEAD) in Arizona the week of March 25th. Colleagues from 26 states attended the LEAD Summit (a total of 36 participants). This was the seventh time for the Foundation executives and staff to gather for their professional development since the first meeting in Texas in 2006. This group is instrumental in serving Team Ag Ed nationwide.
In 2021, with the support of the National FFA, the group began the process of establishing a nonprofit 501(c)3 organization. The professional organization became a reality in 2022 when LEAD gained official nonprofit status.
We are very grateful to have had the following presenters:
- Senator Sine Kerr
- Representative Tim Dunn
- Roger Rickard of Voices in Advocacy
- Farrah Smith - Foundation President-Elect and Gala Chair
- Dr. Robert Torres
-
Dr. Amber Rice, Department of Agricultural Education, Technology and Innovation, College of Agriculture and Life Sciences, The University of Arizona
- Andrea Moreno of SRP
- Glen Stith, Top Hand Consulting
- Chris Udall and Stephanie Knight from the Agribusiness & Water Council of Arizona
- Glen Vortherms from the Maricopa Water District
- Sherry Saylor
- Scott Pilchard of Western Skies Advisory
-
Amanda Ruboyianes of ENPICA Insurance
This program would not have been successful without the tremendous support from our sponsors and contributors.

CASA GRANDE FFA
COUGAR COUNTRY MARKET
|
|
South of Phoenix you’ll find a town rooted in unique Arizona history and agriculture, Casa Grande. The Casa Grande High School boasts an agriculture program to admire. Casey Farnsworth is the Agriculture Teacher and FFA Advisor at Casa Grande Union High School. Many years ago, he had a vision to expand his chapter’s supervised agricultural experience (SAE) into something that would not only impact and grow his chapter’s students, but also benefit the community, and that’s when the makings of Cougar Country Market started coming together. Today, the Cougar Country Market gives students an understanding of basic business management as well as supplying their community with local goods from the program and from local Arizona agriculture. The Cougar Country Market is a FFA student-led business venture that allows every agriculture class to partake in the dealings of business and marketing. Throughout the day students learn business skills from running a cash register to interacting with customers, a truly immersive supervised agricultural experience (SAE). Among the market’s offerings are Arizona milk, cheese curds, local honey, fresh hydroponic seasonal vegetables, local meat, poultry and meat sticks.
Let’s learn a little bit about the Agriculture Teacher and FFA advisor mastermind behind all this, Mr. Casey Farnsworth.Read more about this story.

Recognize A 2023 Senior
for their Hardwork & Commitment
|
|
The 1928 Senior Society began in 2021 as a way to honor a high school senior with a one-time gift to the Arizona FFA Foundation. Through a donation of $19.28 per high school senior that is an Arizona FFA member, they will be recognized for their commitment to their education.
1928 is a significant year when the National FFA Organization was founded. Each inductee will receive a Senior Society FFA decal, recognized by having their name listed in our State FFA Leadership Conference app, recognized on screen with the Senior Society list during a conference session, and on the Foundation website for the next year.
This is a great opportunity for parents, grandparents, teachers, alumni and others that would like to recognize a 2023 senior.

The State FFA Leadership Camp is right around the corner! More than 250 students from across Arizona come together for a five-day unbelievable leadership experience. Students are broken into small groups that are lead by camp counselors. The students attend leadership workshops, team building activities and participate in obstacle courses.
This year we are seeking support to offer a bus for students from Yuma Region to attend camp. We are grateful to Vicki Scott of Scott Resources and Megan Scott for kicking off the campaign to provide the Yuma bus.
Sponsorship opportunities are still available to help us reach our goal. If you are interested in supporting this effort to help students get to the State FFA Leadership Camp, held in Heber, Arizona, please reach out to Rochell at 602-705-9211 or email rochell@azffafoundation.org.
