FTC Sues Bill Pay Seattle-based Doxo Over 'Tricks That Manipulate Consumers'

The Federal Trade Commission filed a lawsuit against Seattle-based bill payment company Doxo and members of Doxo's senior leadership team.

The lawsuit alleges Doxo, which provides a central place for consumers to pay bills, intercepted consumers who would search for ways to pay billers online. According to the FTC, Doxo would upcharge these consumers for using Doxo's service, when consumers could often just pay the biller directly without the added charges from Doxo.

MJR Development Updating Tacoma Tower in Bid for Satellite Offices

Kirkland-based MJR Development is rebranding a downtown Tacoma office tower it acquired a year ago for $41.3 million, giving it a new name and adding high-end amenities to its common areas.

The 200,000-square-foot building, formerly known as Tacoma Financial Center, is now called Tacoma Centre, the company announced Tuesday. A $5 million interior renovation is set to be complete by summer.

LPL Financial and Pacific Current last month filed for building permits for office space in the 909 A St. building, formerly home to State Farm offices, and before that, the Russell Investments headquarters.
