The Virtual Furry Skurry is Here!
Today is the day! Are you ready to dust off those shoes, grab your pet and go the distance with us! The animals are calling and they need your help! 

Today, launches our month-long Virtual Furry Skurry event and we are so excited to share it with you! For the 29th annual Furry Skurry, we are staying socially distant by taking all the fun and turning it into a month-long, action-packed virtual event. Plus, to keep you safe, we will mail all of your event swag right to your door!

The event runs the entire month of September 2020! 

Join us as we train together, stay motivated together and build a community with other walking and running pet lovers! The ultimate mission, raise awareness and much-needed funds to help the homeless animals that need our help right here in the Miami Valley.

25,000 Miles
25,000 More Animals

In just five years, it is estimated that the Humane Society of Greater Dayton has impacted the lives of 25,000 animals here in the Dayton community.

As we come together to celebrate these animals who got their second chances, we ask you to help us reach our goal of walking 25,000 miles overall throughout the month of September in honor of the next 25,000 animals who will need us to be their voice and provide them with the love and care they deserve! 
How Does It Work This Year?
Instead of doing a one-day 5K race, we are switching it up so that even though we are all social distancing, we can still come together virtually to meet a common goal of 25,000 miles walked or ran overall throughout September. The great thing is that you can participate no matter where you are in the world! As a virtual race, getting started is easy! It just takes two quick steps:
  1. Register online here.
  2. Download the Strava app to you mobile device to join our Virtual Furry Skurry Club in Strava (instruction sheets available here)
  3. Sync your Strava account with your personal fundraising page (instructions available here) and start walking or running!
How Do You Compete?
Once you link your Strava account with your Personal Fundraising page (which is created when you register with us), you simply start moving all throughout September. Before you start your walk or run, open up your Strava app on your phone and your steps will automatically be added to our overall distance count.

We will have prizes for those who go the overall longest distance over the month as well as 1st, 2nd and 3rd place prizes within various age groups. We will also have prizes for the individual and team who raises the most funds to help the animals at our shelter!

Throughout the entire month, we will have fun activities, contests and more for you to do to keep you engaged and motivated as we all try to walk or run so that we hit that 25,000 mile goal! Share videos of you and your pet walking or tips to stay motivated. This group is all about you and your experiences! Let's keep the conversation going!

We also encourage everyone to set up and customize their personal fundraising page. This helps you get your family, friends and coworkers involved in your goal and directly helps thousands of homeless animals that need our help right here in our community.

When you register online, you will be able to set up a page where you can encourage all your friends, family and coworkers to support your effort in being a superheroes for pets! You may not think you can make a difference, but with a little support you can make a huge impact!
