Are you ready? Checklist for students coming to SC State this fall

ORANGEBURG, S.C. – As South Carolina State University prepares to welcome students to campus for the Fall 2023 Semester, officials ask new students who have not yet completed their enrollment steps to do so as soon as possible.

All students who intend to attend SC State this fall already must have:

  • Completed application for admission.
  • Paid the enrollment fee.
  • Applied for housing (if requesting to live in an SC State residential facility.) Returning students must have paid the housing application fee.

The university no longer is accepting enrollment and housing application fees for the Fall Semester.

The Student Success Center and the First Year Experience program have developed a checklist for first-time freshmen and transfer students. With the exception of having an SC State identification card made, all steps may be completed online via the SCSU Student Portal. Troubleshooting contacts are below.

Freshmen move-in

Freshmen will move into campus residence halls Wednesday-Thursday, Aug. 10, with date and time dependent upon residence hall assignment. Visit https://conta.cc/44MVF8w for a full schedule.

A housing assignment is tentative until a student’s account has been cleared. No one should arrive on campus before the move-in date and until a room assignment has been completed.

Mandatory New Student Orientation is Aug. 9-14, 2023.

Because the expected enrollment is beyond the university’s capacity to house students on campus and in complexes leased by the SC State Real Estate Foundation, the university has started a waitlist for upperclassmen housing.

SC State is no longer accepting applications for the Fall Semester. Those who applied after the deadline have been placed on a waitlist. The university will continue to accept applications for the Spring 2024 Semester. To apply for admission to SC State visit www.scsu.edu and click “Apply.”
