Your Membership in ADEMS and CMS Matters

ADEMS and CMS: Leveraging the Strength of Powerful Connections

Membership with the Colorado Medical Society (CMS) and ADEMS is more than just belonging to a consortium of physicians. It means legislative, regulatory, and legal advocacy, connectivity with your peers - outside of where you work - and support at every stage of your career.

Here are some of the combined ADEMS/CMS benefits:

Advocacy: ADEMS and CMS are your most powerful champions for legislative issues that impact your practice. We work from the grassroots to the State Capitol, all the way to Washington, DC, in collaboration with CMS and the American Medical Association (AMA) to ensure that physicians’ voices are heard at each step of the legislative and regulatory process.

Events: ADEMS proudly partners with the five area hospitals and one medical school in our area to coordinate and develop educational and social programs. Local and state events, build deeper community connections and enable learning about relevant healthcare topics.

Informative publications: Through ADEMS e-mail, online updates, The Advocate bimonthly newsletter, CMS’s Colorado Medicine magazine, ASAP, and PolicyPulse e-newsletters, we help physicians and your staff navigate the rapidly evolving practice environment and ever-changing requirements in the practice of medicine.

Saving you time and money: Members are eligible for up to 10% discount on COPIC medical liability insurance – which often pays for the full cost of membership and more! – and discounted services from Partners in Medicine.

Physician wellbeing: ADEMS and CMS work to provide continued resources for physicians to help keep the joy in practicing medicine. Physicians are also able to access the new Doc2Doc Wellbeing Counseling program through a partnership with CPHP and receive three free pre-clinical sessions if needed.

Doctors Care – Doctors Care, has provided our community much-needed care by filling in the gaps for low-income and uninsured patients over the past 35+ years. Physician members can participate in this exceptional program that provides care for these patients in our area. Doctors Care does a great job managing these patients through their care and partnering with our area hospitals. You may find the need to refer one of your patients to this program for additional help and care coordination.

Elevating your voice: CMS’s first-of-its-kind virtual policy forum, Central Line, gives every CMS member a vote and a voice in the organization by submitting policy proposals directly to the CMS Board of Directors.

Other opportunities: Options to serve on county and state committees, including the CMS Council on Legislation influencing regional health care policies.

A local expert: ADEMS Executive Director Andrea Chase lives and works in the south Denver Metro making connections and contacts throughout our community for you, with the support of staff at the state level.

You focus on caring for patients. Let us fight the battles facing your profession.

Many physicians having workplace or situational concerns would benefit from true peer-to-peer support from a physician well-being expert. Arapahoe-Douglas-Elbert Medical Society endorses the CMS / CPHP-launched Doc2Doc Wellbeing Consulting. to provide pre-clinical assistance to any Colorado physician, resident/fellow, or medical student without lengthy documentation or extensive evaluation.

Call 720-810-9131 for any concern -- stress, a relationship issue, poor outcome -- and schedule a confidential follow-up with a physician trained in psychiatry (in person, via video, or by phone). Don't wait until a problem gets too big. Utilize these free peer consultation sessions whenever you need them!

Thank you for attending our End of Summer Physician Meet & Greet at Glenmoor Country Club

Our co-sponsored event at Glenmoor Country Club in August was a popular change to our traditional ballroom event. This year we added a family-friendly format and a casual atmosphere outside and by the pool with plenty of food and drinks. Our physicians and their families were able to attend with the kids playing in the two pools and adults enjoying networking on the pool deck. We were so happy that we were able to dodge the afternoon thunderstorms from crashing our party. ADEMS hopes to continue to host a similar event each year and perhaps also our more formal Meet and Greet networking event later on the calendar. We appreciate your feedback!

We also appreciate sponsors like Colorado Retina who made this possible. Thank you!

The beautiful Glenmoor Country Club was a splashing success for our end of summer Meet & Greet in August.
