Please join us for this special presentation where attorneys Bob Jaffe and Rob Katz discuss the recent major decisions of the US Supreme Court for the October, 2024 Term. We will focus on the Presidential Immunity decision as well as the “Chevron Doctrine” case.

The Immunity decision reverses historical tradition and potentially gives the President ‘King’ like status. The “Chevron doctrine case” reverses case precedent in the area of federal administrative law and changes the way we seek protection for our environment, health, food, and even climate.

These two cases, along with Dobbs in the abortion area, have gutted core freedoms, health and safety protection and given the president unheard of Power - this in a context of emerging conflicts of interest among the members of the Supreme Court. Bob and Rob will invite participation in this conversation at the end of their presentations

Passings

We remember Rabbi Burt Jacobson z"l 1936-2024 a great early teacher and Mashpiah Ruchani in the Minyan, liturgist and author, a humble and generous Neshamah who we will all miss . We send condolences to his wife Rabbi Diane Eliot, and to Rabbi Burt's brother and nephews and to all who mourn in Zion, Jerusalem and America.

Rabbi Seidel recommends the following books - Kabbalah and Exodus - a classic from the early 90's on the psycho-spiritual journey of the Exodus. In the same realm Sanford Drob's Kabbalistic Visions (2010) is very rich. He also recommends the work by Dr. Shoshana Fershtman The Mystical Exodus in Jungian Perspective (the main text of our book club), as well as the work of Estelle Frankel, examining the Exodus through the lens of depth psychology and Jungian hermeneutics. For those taking the Kabbalah and Science class we recommend Amir Aczel, The Mystery of the Aleph: Mathematics, the Kabbalah and the Search for Infinity (Atria Books 2001)

We pray for the souls of those killed working to save lives and administer to the endangered and hungry.
