April 2023

Something from the commissioner...

Spring is officially here – the clocks have gone forward and we can look forward to some lighter evenings to get out and about with girls in the summer term. There is lots to look forward to next term – continuing the spring theme we have Inspire and Grow for leaders at the end of April – your chance to learn new skills, share ideas and catch up with friends. I’m sure some of you will already have plans to celebrate the King’s Coronation and the following week the rainbows will be out at four Country parks across the county. If you’re a leader with another section and have a few spare hours to give on Sunday 14 May to help deliver activities for the rainbows please email programme@girlguidingnorthamptonshire.org.uk – you don’t need to commit to the whole day. Guides and Rangers will be having fun on the water at the paddle sports day a week later and don’t forget the bell boats are now based in Northampton if you want an evening on the water with your unit.

However, before we get to the summer term I hope you enjoy a break from guiding over the school holidays and take time to refresh and indulge in some chocolate, and I look forward to meeting you at one of the summer County events.

FA Design a Badge

Harpole Guides learnt how to weave willow and made bird feeders to hold a fat ball. It was a fabulous evening, with the Guides learning a traditional craft, a skill they can build on in the future if they wish. Some of the girls gave them to their Mums for Mothering Sunday.
