Each year, the Environmental Working Group prepares a guide with the top 12 produce items you should buy organic, and the top 15 items that are generally low in pesticides. We love this list as it helps us determine when to spend the money on organic produce, and where it doesn’t matter as much. This saves on our pocketbooks and also keeps our health in regard. The guide is updated annually and ranks pesticide contamination on the most popular fruits and vegetables, based on “more than 35,200 samples tested by the U.S. Department of Agriculture and the Food and Drug Administration,” according to the EWG.
