NEWS FROM FLINT PUBLIC LIBRARY

Holiday Closings

Flint Public Library will be CLOSED on Sunday, April 14th and Monday April 15th in observance of Patriots' Day. Our normal hours of operation will resume on Tuesday, April 16th.

National Library Week

Ready, set, library! National Library Week is April 7–13, 2024, and Flint Public Library encourages everyone in the community to visit the library to explore all that we ha to offer. National Library Week is an annual celebration highlighting the valuable role libraries, librarians, and library workers play in transforming lives and strengthening our communities. Established in 1957, the first National Library Week was based on the idea that once people were motivated to read, they would support and use libraries.

Libraries give us a green light to experience something truly special: a place to connect with others, learn new skills, and pursue our passions through book clubs, storytimes, movie nights, crafting classes, video games, lectures, author talks, and more. Flint Public Library offers a wide array of programs, classes and resources, including Book Club Kits, an ever-growing Library of Things, summer reading programs for children, teens, and adults, as well as an on-going 1000 Books Before Kindergarten program. Online resources, articles, and databases can all be accessed via The Flint's website and patrons can even reserve museum and attraction passes online thanks to The Flint!

And libraries play a pivotal role in economic development by providing resources and support for job seekers, entrepreneurs, and small businesses. Flint Public Library supports Middleton with services such as our outreach programs for homebound patrons and incarcerated individuals, classroom visits with local schools, and pop-up storytimes at businesses and organizations within the community.

No matter where you find yourself on the roadmap through life’s journey—preparing for a new career, launching a business, raising a family, or settling into retirement—Flint Public Library offers the resources and support you need and an inclusive and supportive community where you will feel welcome.

So, get ready to explore, become inspired, and connect with others this National Library Week. Flint Public Library is there for you, all the way to the finish line.
