It’s heating up!

This time of year in STL is notorious for unpredictable weather. One day it’s freezing and the next—blazing! But one thing is sure—it’s heating up! The flowers and grass are thawing. Things are coming back to life and springing into motion.

Similarly, things are “heating up” in ministry at BLC! We have Taking Jesus to the Streets starting, childcare beginning, summer camps brewing, and oh yeah—we called an Associate Pastor! Things are certainly HEATING UP in ministry. Come take a look at what God has put in front of us in the past month!

Rev. Dr. Gerard Bolling—Lead Pastor

WHAT A MONTH!!

Call Day!

This month, Bethlehem got to celebrate with three of their seminarians as they found out where they were going for their vicarage or first calls, and BLC showed up with over 30 members coming out for the services! In the vicarage service, we got to see Seminarian Eddie receive his vicarage placement to St. Luke's Lutheran Church in Oviedo, Flordia! Although we will miss Seminarian Eddie, we are excited for him as he makes plans to move to Florida for the year.

During the call service, Seminarian Allen received his call to Zion Lutheran Church, Clark, New Jersey!

Finally, we are thrilled to announce that Chris Knepper has received the call to be our new Associate Pastor. Chris will be our new Pastor of Community Engagement. This is a huge blessing and we can't wait to see what he will do in this role and how it will impact our ministry.

It is because of the support of all of you that we are able to offer Chris this new position. If you would like to continue supporting us and our ministry, click HERE.

Walnut Park Update

When Giannai first started with me here at Walnut Park, she didn't  know how to pray over her food at all. At first, she was scared to get up in front of everyone and say her name, but, after a little work, she was fine introducing herself without anyone helping. Then, I started teaching her the daily prayer and to pray over the meals. Now, she gets up in front of the group and guides everyone in prayer over the food. She does a good job and she loves it, I'm proud of her and look forward to seeing her grow closer and closer in and with God guiding her!! TO GOD BE THE GLORY, AMEN!!!

Thank you Lutheran North!

Lutheran North sent one of their small groups to BLC at the beginning of the month. Every April, they take a day off of their regular classes to participate in "Faith in Action Day." We were blessed to be one of the sites that they came and volunteered at. The kids painted, organized, and interacted with our CCLS students. It was a huge help as we get our classrooms ready for Bethlehem Lutheran Childcare!

Your generous contributions play a crucial role in sustaining BLC's mission and ministry. Through your consistent giving, we are able to create an inviting environment for our community. Your continued support enables us to make a positive impact, both within our congregation and for the greater North St. Louis Area.

Hyde Park EAC Ice Cream Truck Day

Ms. Q and Raven decided to surprise their EAC kids with an ice cream truck and the kids were SO excited. We are so thankful for our EAC Team members who have the kids' best interests in mind every day. They teach their kids about Jesus, play games with them, and go above and beyond all the time.

Taking Jesus to the Streets

This month, we kickstarted this season of Taking Jesus to the Streets. We are so blessed to have this ministry and to serve our city by going to their neighborhoods and worshiping Jesus with them all. However, this season has come with a couple of different incidents. During our first event, we were cleaning up when gunshots went off nearby. We quickly packed up our van and got all of our participants to safety. A few weeks later, while we were having our third event, a physical altercation occurred nearby. We thank God for His hand of safety over every BLC member present at our programs and pray for the involved individuals. Taking Jesus to the Streets is a powerful way for us to serve our community and we ask that you join us in praying against any more situations like this, so that we can continue to do the work God has put before us.

Youth Empowerment

Our youth leaders hosted an event for the youth to ask questions, to offer support, and to look towards what the future might hold. We are very thankful to have the opportunity to serve youth in our church and empower them to be who God made them to be. This is an important ministry opportunity, as it provides the youth with a safe place to learn more about adulthood.

How You Can Support!

A few months ago, we announced our plan to build a new building! This new facility will give us the ability to better serve our community by providing a new space to worship, host events, and care for others. To reach this goal, we are raising $5 million! Check out this QR code to hear more about our project and join us in making this building a reality.

Consistent giving is the best way to support BLC. You can give a one-time sum, or, through our website, you can set up recurring gifts. By doing this, we can better plan for the future!

Thank You Seminarians!

We were very blessed to have 4th-year students from Concordia Seminary - St. Louis come and serve for a full day! They cleaned up our parking lot, planted flowers, painted, moved lockers, and built the walls for our new podcast room! This was a huge help as we prepare for many new ministries that are coming quickly!
