April Newsletter 2024

March's meeting was full of exciting updates and lots of great input!

Dates for future events were solidified:

Tag Day: May 18th from 8am-Noon
Memorial Park Monument Clean Up: May 25th at 8am
Summer Fun Fest Kickoff Party & Ducky Derby: June 8 from 4pm - 6pm
Movie Night in Lehigh Park: June 8 at dusk

Our 2024 Grant Application was modified due to our postponing of our Vegas Night. We simplified the grand application and removed the volunteer stipulation for this year. Any Oglesby charity, group, or organization can apply by simply filling out the application HERE.

The bench from our plastic bag recycling event has been delivered! It was decided that the bench would be dedicated to the Lance family for their huge contribution in reaching our goal! A ribbon cutting is set to take place later this year. More details will be announced as they are solidified.

The idea of one sponsorship letter with a new tiered sponsorship option was discussed. As we continue with our mission to support community improvements and economic growth throughout Oglesby, we rely not only on our membership dues but also on the generosity and support of our community. Sponsorships play a crucial role in helping We Are Oglesby achieve our goals and expand each year. The new letter would showcase a range of benefits that each sponsorship tier would receive with their donation. The new tiered option would allow our organization to better budget for our future events and will also alleviate the need for multiple mailings throughout the year.

An Oglesby business sign is also an idea in the works. We Are Oglesby submitted a grant application to cover the cost of this sign. The goal is to encourage tourism traffic into Oglesby from the Starved Rock area.

Lastly, 2024 goals were set. This year's focus will be to continue to recruit new members, focus on our scheduled events, and grow our volunteer base!

It is going to be an exciting year for We Are Oglesby. We hope to see you at our next meeting!
