Katharine Schellman's

Lily Adler Series - Historical mysteries

Setting: London 1815. Though newly-widowed Lily Adler is returning to a society that frowns on independent women, she is determined to create a meaningful life for herself even without a husband. She becomes a private problem solver for the upper crust. The Body in the Garden, (book 1) was one of Suspense Magazine’s Best Books of 2020 and led to Shellman being named one of BookPage’s 16 Women to Watch in 2020. The second book, Silence in the Library, was praised as “worthy of Agatha Christie or Rex Stout” (Library Journal). Death at the Manor is the newest in the series. Great crime novels; fast-paced, expertly researched, intricately plotted. Historical accuracy and clever characters. Fun reads.
