Dear Members and Friends of the BABC OC,
I hope that 2023 is off to a good start for you. Here at the BABC OC we are keeping busy as we seek to offer our British American Community a range of events.
In February we hosted an outstanding fireside chat with vocal coach to Lady Diana, Stewart Pearce.
Looking ahead, in May we're excited to continue the Monthly Business Networking Events on the First Thursday (location TBA), the best golf tournament in OC is back on May 18th 33rd Annual BABC Golf Tournament, and we hope you'll bring the whole family to our first ever Family Day in the Park to celebrate the King's Coronation on May 21st.
In June, we will host our Annual General Meeting (Date TBA) and, I will have the honor of representing BABC OC at the Annual BAB Network Transatlantic Conference in London, which brings together members of all 23 chapters across North America and the UK. Current BABC members are welcome to attend and can find more information here.
We have many more events in the planning stages so, stay tuned! Keep checking the events page of our website for updates. And remember, as a BABC member you have the ability to sponsor events and define event topics so please let us know if you have an ideas.
Finally, we would like to thank all of our members who recently renewed their membership with BABC OC and all the new members who have joined us over the past few months. It's our members that keep the organization ticking. Thank you!

Is the Mood Around Trade in Washington Beginning to Shift?

In Washington DC last week for meetings with members of BAB and of Congress it was interesting to hear repeatedly that trade should be back on the agenda. There is certainly a sense that the disengagement from meaningful trade policy that has characterized the Biden administration will end up being unhelpful to the US in the long-term, leaving it with a reduced ability to shape the world outside its own borders. The UK’s announcement that it will be acceding to the CPTPP, the pacific trade group, reminded us all that this was once a project driven by the USA which was abandoned, in our view misguidedly, by the Trump administration.
