The IMPACT Award, established in January 2022, is given to an athlete and a volunteer who has contributed to our organization in a way that exemplifies our commitment to respect, teamwork, and unity. Their behaviors and attitudes show a dedication to making themselves, their teammates, and/or their communities a place where people are valued and encouraged. These individuals promote behaviors and practices that lead to a healthier lifestyle, including sports, friendship, and acceptance.
The March Athlete Award goes to Taylor Gammil.
Taylor is a natural athlete and has been getting more involved in Special Olympics. He is a member of his high school unified basketball and track teams and participates in the county’s western soccer and swimming teams. He likes to have fun but can get his serious game face on when needed. His strength and coordination help him on the field and in the pool!
The March Volunteer Award goes to Sean Moony.
Loudoun County hit the jackpot when the Mooneys got involved. Sean and his wife Alison have coached numerous sports. Recently, Sean coached basketball and represented our area at the championships. This season, he will help our athletes improve their golf skills. Athletes have described Sean as energetic, positive, and fun to be around. His dedication to helping our organization is appreciated, and the athletes enjoy his coaching style.
If you want to nominate someone for an IMPACT award, please email Cynthia Clark. New winners are chosen on the 25th of every month, so nominate a deserving volunteer or athlete!!
