Annual Member's Meeting
We will be hosting our Annual Member's Meeting at the Visual Arts Center. Date SATURDAY April 17th at 1:00pm. We invite you to join us. Please keep in mind that we do require masks and social distancing for the protection of all. If you need a mask some will be on site. Your input is much welcomed, as it takes all of us to make an art league. We look forward to seeing you.

April 2021 NEWS LETTER

The Highland's Art League would like to take moment and wish you and your loved ones a happy spring. We just wanted to take a moment to welcome you to participate in the coming events that the Highlands Art League is offering. Together we make great things happen. 2021 is bringing such promise as more and more of our community is getting vaccinated against the Covid 19 virus. We would also like to thank all of you who came out to support the HAL at the Race Gala. Thank you to our artists, our board, our volunteers, our community who came out to support us, and all the businesses that donated and helped the Gala be successful. We appreciate you all. Thank you.

We have some exciting things coming your way that includes the current exhibit at MoTA entitled "All Florida." We have 15 featured artists in this juried show from around the state of Florida. HAL is offering several new classes that we welcome you to join us.

1st Annual All Florida Exhibition
15 Artists from all around Florida have emerged on the Highlands Museum of the Arts. “All Florida” juried exhibition is now showing. The Museum and HAL would like to congratulate all the artists on being accepted in to this prestigious juried show. A special congratulation goes out to Jim Leary 1st place winner, Clif Klein 2nd place winner, and Jean Cormier 3 ed place winner. The exhibit is open Wed-Sat 10:00 am – 2:00 pm and runs thru April 30th. Come by say hi and see all the amazing works of art. Michele Perry's Introductory Alcohol Inks

Come join us for a fun and relaxing afternoon! Alcohol inks are bold and beautiful and create artwork that cannot be duplicated. No two pieces are ever alike. This class will be divided into two groups, those new to alcohol inks and those that have participated in a previous class offered by the Highlands Art League.

The introductory class participants will complete four, 4”x4” ceramic tiles to be used as coasters, wall art or display pieces. All supplies are included.

Previous participants may bring items from home, thrift stores, Habitat or Dollar Tree that they would like to decorate. Inks and fixatives will be provided.

Michele Perry's Introductory to Silk Scarf Coloring

Join us for a relaxing morning in our studio overlooking beautiful Lake Jackson. We will be making hand dyed 100% silk scarves using the bleeding art tissue technique. Participants will be provided with a 54” white silk scarf to dye. These turn out gorgeous but can not be rushed. There will be time to socialize as we wait for the dyes to set.

Class size is limited to 8 maximum , so sign up early. An additional class may be added if necessary.
Sun Catchers Class with Michele Perry
Come celebrate Earth Day with us by making a beautiful sun catcher! Chandelier Crystals and beads mix together to create a sparkling addition to any window. Supplies for one 24” long strand will be provided. If time permits, additional strands may be purchased. No experience necessary. Great for elementary age children to adults, all are welcome!

Time: 3:00 PM - 5:00 PM

Fee: $25 for members, $30 for non members, $10 per additional strand

Colored Pencil Drawing Class
with artist Gary Wyatt
This Colored Pencil Class will teach student basic drawing with the grid system of drawing. Students will learn shading and highlighting using colored pencils. Students will start with a given picture of Puffins.

Class Date/Time: April 6th 10:00 am -1:00 pm

Place: The VAC [ Green building on Lake Jackson behind the Historical Society Museum]

Cost includes all materials: $40 for members; $45 for non-members.
Mornings With Larry
Artist Larry Felder will be teaching a unique ongoing series of oil painting classes for all skill levels called “Morning with Larry.” Classes are on going every Wednesday from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm and will run every Wednesday throughout the year. The cost of each class is $25 for members and $35 for non-members. All supplies are included in that cost. The Visual Arts Center is located at 1989 Lakeview Dr, Sebring, FL 33870.
