Hello Friends of CAPC,
April is
National Child Abuse Prevention and Awareness month and time to raise awareness about the importance of prevention. Child abuse is often hidden but always far reaching in its effects.
In partnership with The San Francisco Child Abuse Prevention Center and Haas School of Business at the University of California, Berkeley we have released
a study of the economics of child abuse:
We now know that in the Bay Area, one year of substantiated cases of abuse costs over
$3 million. That is just the beginning, as life long costs will follow. As with most prevention-focused programs, child abuse prevention is cost effective. The impact of child abuse extends beyond the financial burden; it changes the trajectory of a child's life. Imagine a future in which every child lives in a family, in a community that is supportive and violence free. Children will have boundless opportunity to reach their fullest potential and our communities will be stronger. And coincidentally, communities will see a positive economic impact.
Please take a moment to think of the broad impact of child abuse here in Contra Costa County. The programs and services of CAPC provide viable and unduplicated outreach to families and communities at risk for child abuse and neglect. Please make your tax-deductible contribution today and make a difference in the life of a child.
As always thank you for your support!
