Along about seven miles of Route 7, we're adding a third lane and shared-use paths in each direction, building a pedestrian underpass to access Colvin Run Mill Park, replacing and raising the bridge over Difficult Run, and making many intersection, bicycle and pedestrian improvements. Learn more.
Construction Updates
In March, crews continued construction activities along the corridor:
Continued drilling for noise barrier foundations and post and panel installation along eastbound Route 7 near Middleton Ridge Road, and along westbound Route 7 near Towlston Road.
Continued work on the 48" storm pipe crossing beneath Route 7 on the east side of McLean Bible Church.
Completed rough grading for the stormwater management pond east of McLean Bible Church.
Third-party utility design and relocation activities are also ongoing.

Construction of the new eastbound Route 7 bridge over Difficult Run continues.
Join us on April 19 at 7 p.m. for the Route 7 Corridor Improvements Virtual Construction Update
On Tuesday, April 19 at 7 p.m., the Route 7 team will host a virtual construction update meeting, includingan overview of the two-phase opening of the new Lewinsville Road intersection. Improvements in this area will include a displaced left-turn from eastbound Route 7 to Lewinsville Road opening later this spring. Click here for details and to register for the meeting.
In Case You Missed It
Construction activities along Route 7 will continue in 2022, and additional traffic shifts and temporary detours will occur along Route 7. Please see the project website for information on upcoming lane shifts and other roadway impacts.
