The Brain Tumour Research Studentship program was developed to accelerate brain tumour research and encourage young researchers to join the field. It gives students opportunities to gain experience in brain tumour research and its methods.

Congratulations to our 2024 Studentship Recipients, Patrick Ang, Arthurine Yu and Martin Profant!

2021 Research Grant Recipient

Project Title: “Predicting Temozolomide Resistance in Glioblastoma using an Activitybased Fluorescent chemosensor for MGMT”

A clinicians’ goal is to accurately predict what drug{s) will be most effective on a patient in order to minimize time the patient may not have and eliminate exposure to toxic treatments without benefiting from a positive outcome.

2023 Feature Grant Recipient

Project Title: “Cotargeting Ephrin Receptor Tyrosine Kinases A2 and A3 in Glioblastoma using bispecific CAR-T immunotherapy”

Our project seeks to address the formidable challenge posed by glioblastoma (GBM). Rooted in the recognition of intratumoral heterogeneity and potential role of Ephrin receptor (Eph) family in tumourigenesis and driving therapeutic resistance, our proposal sought to develop a novel therapeutic strategy using bispecific Chimeric Antigen Receptor (CAR) T cells against the EphA2 and EphA3 receptors.

David Fortin

2020 Feature Grant Recipient

Project Title: “Radioisotope Embedded in GlioTrap for Glioblastoma Treatment”

The generous Research Feature Grant was provided to support the development and technique to use an implantable radioactive gliogel for glioblastoma multiforme treatment. One major problem with conventional radiotherapy is that the radiation deposed in the healthy brain limits the dose targeting the brain cancer.

International Clinical Trials Day

May 20 is International Clinical Trials Day.

It’s a chance to recognize how clinical trials improve our health, celebrate the people who make clinical trials happen, and raise awareness about what trials involve so that those thinking of participating can make informed decisions.
