NEEDHAM COMMUNITY COUNCIL NEWS
ELL Tutors & Walk 'n Talk

Are you a welcoming person who enjoys conversation? If so, English tutoring with the Needham Community Council may be for you!

The English Language Learners program trains tutors to work with adults in the community who want to communicate better in English. Volunteer with the Council to meet individually with an English learner or even lead a small group. Weekly tutoring sessions can take place in-person or remotely. Volunteer training sessions begin soon!
The ELL corner of the Council has been busy preparing new tutors, pairing them with new students, and now taking the "act on the road" with ELL Walk 'n Talks! Meet fellow English language learners and practice English while getting exercise and fresh air. All levels welcome!

This activity is for adults, but you are welcome to bring children along. We will walk for 40-60 minutes and return to our starting point.

April Tech Teen Event
Did you grow up in an age without computers? Did you have to hold the phone cord in the air to spin and untangle it? Was streaming something you did when you hung party decorations?

Then you are not a "digital native." Learning how to use a smartphone may feel like learning a whole new language.
Let us help you speak this new language! The Tech & Tutor program has volunteers, including a team of trained high school students, called “Tech Teens,” ready to support members of the Needham community with their technical questions.

Food Pantry Assistant

The Needham Community Council is seeking a part-time Food Pantry Assistant 12-15 hours per week to assist the Food Pantry Manager with operational tasks. The Council Food Pantry is a successful client “Fresh First” distribution program with an increasing client base and outreach needs.

Program Updates
Karma of Clothing is Back

We celebrate the relaunch of the Karma of Clothing Project. A joint venture with Mary Lou Andre and the Dressing Well Charitable Foundation, Karma helps our food pantry customers look their best for work and their daily lives.

"The way we dress affects the way we think, the way we feel, the way we act, and the way others react to us."

March: By the Numbers

The transition from winter to spring is evident at the Council as we open our doors to more and more Needham residents.

We are moving! From Lyft rides to medical equipment headed out the door we are a community on the move. New wardrobes, new learners, and new donors and friends all came to the Council this past month and we are so glad you did.

Help share our mission to reach any Needham resident with an under-met health, educational or social need.
