This year's Charter Day Celebration is on Sunday, June 25, and your invitation will soon be in your mailbox!  Won't you help make our 77th Charter Day a big success by donating something for our silent auction? 

Our annual Charter Day gives us the opportunity to come together and raise money to help numerous social service projects in the Greater Long Beach and West Orange County area. It is also our chance to honor deserving people in our community, and to enjoy each other!!

Please consider helping by donating items such as

• gift certificates / restaurant cards
• artwork, jewelry
• dinners for 6 at your house
• how-to lessons (e.g. challah baking, cake making, planting)
• event tickets (e.g. concert, comedy, play, symphony, sports)
• salon and spa services
• vacation stays / timeshares

Join us for a virtual Lobby Day with interesting speakers and training on April 26 and for legislative meetings in the days after (photo is from an earlier and exciting Lobby Day). We will be lobbying on bills in these high-priority areas: abortion access and reproductive health, housing / homelessness, and childcare / poverty / education.

A fun social night out, together, if you're up for it!! Register below to be sent both (1) the member's name and address in case you want to come in person to watch and discuss, and (2) the Zoom link in case you want to watch the movie on your own and then join the discussion electronically. The movie will be shown from 6:30 - 9 pm, and we hope to start the Zoom discussion at about 9:15 pm.

The Fabelmans is a romantic and sharp-eyed love letter to film and family, the latest film by Steven Spielberg. Growing up in post-World War II era Arizona, young Sammy Fabelman aspires to become a filmmaker as he reaches adolescence, but soon discovers a shattering family secret and explores how the power of films can help him see the truth. The movie centers on the conflict between artistic drive and personal responsibility, as well as the mysteries of talent and happiness.

Jewish Long Beach is recruiting the next cohort for the Alpert New Leaders Forum. The group will comprise emerging leaders from all corners of our community who crave a deeper understanding of our Jewish organizational landscape. The upcoming kickoff retreat is on Sunday, May 7, at the Alpert JCC.

Many helping hands are needed because we plan to create 250 kits, so join us in giving a "hug" to women coming to California for an abortion! Our comfort kits include items that Planned Parenthood has told us help patients after their procedures, since their stressful journey is not yet over at that point.

Snacks and drinks are provided, and doing good will feel so great!
