April luncheon candidate showdown

The April luncheon was designed to showcase the four men who will be facing off in the May 14 runoff election.

But first, we welcomed Congressman Dan Bishop, who is now running for State Attorney General. While not one of our featured speakers, he was in town, attended our lunch and cheerfully greeted the attendees. He announced that he has raised 50% more funds than any prior Republican running for AG - but he's still behind the Democrat candidate. We need him to WIN! To donate, go here.

Running for Lt. Governor:

Hal Weatherman led the field in the March primary. In his talk, he stressed his Christian ethics and grassroots campaign, in which he has visited all 100 NC counties (some numerous times, including Moore County). He said he is a strong conservative who cares about people who are currently "leading lives of quiet desperation."

Jim O'Neill is currently DA in Forsyth County. In his remarks, he focused on his record of keeping his county one of the safest in the state, and working to ensure illegal immigrants who commit crimes are prosecuted. He came very close to beating Josh Stein in 2020 for AG; now he promises to bring strong leadership to the Lt. Governor's position.

Running for NC State Auditor:

Jack Clark was the lead vote-getter in the March primary. He pointed out he is a CPA who understands everything about auditing, and he is the only candidate (either Republican or Democrat) who has the educational background and experience to tackle the important job of Auditor.

Dave Boliek focused on his record as a fighter for ensuring monies are spent properly (as he did the UNC financial system) and for standing up to forces that do not want corruption, incompetence and/or ignorance to be exposed.

April's fundraising results

The results for our April luncheon sales were:

MRW Basket Raffle: $210, won by Deb Daly

Split the Pot: $120; $60 won by Joy Grant

Jewelry Sales: $149

Many thanks to all who participated!
