April is Membership Appreciation month here at the Kennebec Valley Chamber! This is our opportunity to thank you for being a member. A chamber of commerce is a local association that promotes and protects the interest of the business community in a particular place. For us here, that is the Kennebec Valley region. Our business network spans from small sole proprietors to large corporations across 23 communities. We strive to provide value to our members through the sharing of information and providing opportunities to connect with others in our community through our events. All month long we will be highlighting different industries and businesses over on our Facebook page @KVChamberofCommerce and doing fun prizes for those that participate. So come join us for some fun and celebration as we say thank you for being a member of the Kennebec Valley Chamber of Commerce! | Thank you to our Membership Appreciation Sponsor: Kennebec Savings Bank | | |

Join Mill Park Pétanque Club
We would like to invite and welcome you to the Mill Park Pétanque Club located at 1 Water Street in downtown Augusta.
Everyone benefits from participating in a sport or hobby. Pétanque is a sport that will evoke passion, laughter, cheers, focus, skill and tears of joy when players excel and triumph. Pétanque is the most inclusive game in the world you can play. There is no talk of being overweight, short, disabled or old. In the world of Pétanque all these things DON’T MATTER!
Players of all ages are invited to join us. We offer every level of play from beginner to experienced and are happy to teach you how to play. Lessons are free and we have boules for you to use while you are deciding if pétanque is your new favorite pastime. Come and learn to play one America’s fastest growing sports, pétanque, pronounced “pay-tonk”.
During the summer there is someone at the courts almost every day so, while driving by, if you see someone there stop in and say hello. We meet regularly on Tuesday evenings and Saturday mornings for serious play but we always have room to teach new players. In addition, we host 4 competitive tournaments during the year.
2023 will be our 13th year at Mill Park and it is looking like it will be our best one yet.
Come join us and play this wonderful game with a “funny name”.
To sign up for free lessons or questions, email us at: ray7275@gmail.com or you can call and leave a message at 207-622-3389.

Goodwill’s new technology uses brain waves to ease anxiety and depression, and to help diagnose underlying conditions in people who have a brain injury
Goodwill’s NeuroRehabilitation clinics bought a new piece of technology that helps train people’s brains to be more flexible and efficient. NeuroFeedback helps treat anxiety, depression, insomnia, and more in a noninvasive way. It also can help healthcare staff diagnose autism, schizophrenia, brain injury, and more without relying solely on self-reported symptoms.
“It can be difficult for a patient with a brain injury to describe all of their symptoms, and to separate a concurrent diagnoses from their brain injury symptoms,” said Mackenna Murtagh, Clinical Director of Goodwill NeuroRehab Services. “For instance, a lack of focus might be a symptom of a concussion, but it could be an undiagnosed ADHD symptom. NeuroFeedback lets us see a clearer picture of what’s happening in someone’s brain so we can give them the therapies they need.”
During NeuroFeedback treatments, the client wears a cap with electrodes all over it that reads brain waves. Dr. Murtagh can put “games” on a TV screen in front of the client to try to re-train the brain in certain ways. Goodwill staff began using NeuroFeedback technology at the end of February. In that short time, some clients have begun reporting better sleep and mood. Goodwill NeuroRehab is at 618 Main Street, Lewiston and serves 180 clients in Maine.

On a snowy March day, staff visited the site of KVHS’s future home at 168 Leighton Road in Augusta, Maine. Many of the staff had not been on the property since the groundbreaking event in August and Sheridan has been hard at work making this dream building a reality. The new facility will be 19,000 square feet and is situated on 77 acres of land. KVHS looks forward to continuing the life saving work of providing hope, healing and second chances to animals every day.
